I’m a retired Navy Submariner, 22 years, where I was involved in nuclear weapons security. I was also a Reserve Police Officer in St. Mary’s, GA from 1990 to 1996. I have had a CHL in several states and currently reside in Texas where I and my wife have a CHL. We both go to the range quarterly, if not more, to make sure we stay proficient in weapons’ use, we each have several handguns. I prefer the Ruger SR-40 which is what I carried as a peace officer, I like the feel and stopping power. I usually take any of my children who are around with us to the range so they stay trained and respect weapons in general. I have done that to all of our 11 children. I have a safe full of weapons from WWI to the current M-4. Looking to learn about weapons in general as well as advise on selling ang buying. Hope to make network friends here.

I recently obtained my CCL which fits with my career training in all manner of safety. I look forward to learning along the way. I love to travel the country and meet people. I want to thank all those who served or serve. I appreciate the freedoms that you all have insured and protected that I might enjoy. You all have a great day.

Hello! My name is Trentin Bergeron and I’m here in WA state where the OIC is furthering the war against our 2A rights by declaring self-defense insurance illegal.

I’m currently looking for fellow WA residents who would be interested in a) investigating the policies and then b) possibly bringing action against the OIC if we determine they are abusing their power OR c) drafting a petition to update those policies.

Thanks,

Welcome to the Community, @Trentin! Glad to have you here!

There is a thread where you’ll find others from Washington here as well: USCCA and Washington State

@Legere, glad to have you here! there’s a ton to learn and everyone here is willing to share what they know. Ask anything!

@Trentin, my hat is off to you for being willing to stay and fight, something @KenM in CA will appreciate… he’s staying put too. My hubby and I retreated to Missouri where we’re taking the fight forward with Constitutional Carry (yay! that worked, now we’re working on the schools). If there’s anything we can do from outside the state of WA, just ask.

Hey All!
First, I’m an Air Force Brat. Second, I did 21 years in the USAF as well. I’m retired from that and 14 years into my third life!
Growing up, Dad was never into guns. When I was old enough to own one, I was in the service and sent to countries where guns were not legal (Spain, Japan, England). At the stateside locations, I resided on base and, as military bases are basically gun-free zones (I know that’s changing a wee bit), I never really thought about owning one. I was TDY to Alaska once, and that Desert Eagle .50 under the glass at the Base Exchange looked really nice (drool)!
I’ve been carrying for over six years now, and I’ve been a USCCA member for 6.5 years. I have my CWFL here in Florida and carry my XDs .45 daily.

Welcome to everyone. Sorry I have not been more social but I sorta have an excuse (my daughter is getting married on the 28th and I am making her a bar at her request to use at the reception and as a wedding gift).

So while I am reading all the posts I can I have not responded to many. I hope you all enjoy being here as much as the rest of us do.

Hello all, Jerry here. I’m retired military (9yrs Army, 13.5 AF Reserves) and now work for the Army Corps of Engineers. I live in Sacramento, Commifornia, but grew up in Florida. I grew up hunting, starting about 7 or 8yrs old. I’ve mostly had rifles and shotguns, but also trained with the M9 in the military. I was EOD for 19yrs and we were issued the M9 and M16/ M4. I’ve mostly had military firearms training, but since getting my CCW in 2012, I’ve taken some advanced handgun training courses. I have always wanted to get a CCW, but I’ve been in CA for more than 20 years. Initially I was in the Monterey Bay area, but moved to the Sacramento area in 2004. I travel a lot for work, so it took a while to get my permit.

As far as carry gun, I have a Springfield XD .45 4" Service. My first duty station still had 1911’s, and I have loved the .45 since then! However, I don’t subscribe to the 45 better than 9 or vice versa.

I’m happy to see that USCCA has gotten to the forum, been hoping for this for a while! I’m not sure how I missed this starting up, but I stumbled upon it today. Glad to be here and look forward to meeting and learning from everyone!!
