Welcome to the Community! Please Introduce Yourself

Hi, I’m Kevin I live in Michigan I’ve heard about the uscca from a couple guys I’ve worked with and from ads online. And I finally decided to join I don’t have my CPL yet my class for it is in May of this year. I do carry usually everyday while I am at home for getting rid of critters around the property that could cause harm to our livestock. I’ve been hunting my whole life and used to go out with my great-grandfather checking trap lines and hunting so I’ve been around guns my whole life. And I’m always interested in learning new things.

Hello everyone, my name is Chad, and I live in Sioux Falls, SD. I’m 45, currently on Disability for complications with Type-1 Diabetes. However, I’m also trying to push myself through my G.E.D. Online. I want to attend Kairos University in the near future. I’ve been to a range twice now in the past 2 months and have shot 3 different calibers. So far, I don’t think I’m a big fan of semi-auto. Using my thumb to work the eject mag button and the slide release switch was frustrating, but I’m sure with more practice, it’ll be fine. I haven’t had a chance to shoot with a revolver yet.

Welcome. Each firearm is different. Perhaps you’ll like the thumb/finger type release on the HK or older Walthers.

Mag releases can be aggravating. Fortunately, there are a lot of work arounds. 1) Access to the release is driven by your hand size vs. size of the grip module. A firearm with a smaller grip module can make a huge difference. Also, if you are looking at polymer grips, there are multiple aftermarket options. 2) Install an extended slide release button (caution - if it is too long accidental mag drops may result). So, what is the answer - beyond switching to a revolver? Try lots of different handguns. Not only will this work, but it is a lot of fun! And yes, the Walther trigger guard release is a very workable option.

Greetings @Chadelus :handshake:

I’m sure you will eventually find the firearm that works for you. Yeah, try as many as you can.
If you decide to stay with semi-auto, you can use the paddle mag release, as @Brad mentioned (Walther PPQ M1, H&K VP9, H&K P30 - these are really great handguns)… or you can use a “left handed shooter” trick, meaning - reverse mag release to other side and use your shooting hand’s middle finger to drop the mag.
