Welcome to the Community! Please Introduce Yourself

Hello Everyone,

I would like to introduce myself on your community. My name is Toby. I’m married to a beautiful wife and we have two amazing sons. I live near Charlotte, NC. I’ve been an avid hunter for a long time, but recently gotten into shooting handguns. I currently own a Beretta APX 9mm. I love it. It is the one of the most comfortable guns I’ve ever held. Looking forward to interacting with all of you and learning everything I can from USCCA.

My name is Mike, age 68. My wife and I live in rural Missouri just a bit South of Kansas City. I grew up around a variety of guns, with occasional target practice with 22 rifles and pistols.
With all that is going on these days I decided to arm myself with a 9 mm pistol, joined USCCA, took a firearms fundamentals course because I am new to semi-automatics, took my CCW course and received my permit ( we are constitutional carry here, but some localities require permit, plus re-enforcement of skills is a good policy)
I am enjoying the community, and all the information here.

I’ve been looking a those. I love the idea that the HK have always made ambi firearms.

I feel like I’m five years older saying this…,

but I’m not allowed to have the HK’s after the p2000sk model because of our over reaching gun laws in California. So, even though they’re basically the same pistols but more modern.

my granny state won’t let us buy anything off the gun roster unless it was purchased by someone out of state who brought them with them edited they became a cosmic Tina resident. And few other situations but basically we can’t buy them new.

And yes, this situation has created a black market in pricing for used firearms.

It’s interesting and I don’t mean to bore you but it took me three months to Figure all this out.

I finally did buy an HK P2000 out of state via gunbroker. It’s sitting with the FFL. I’ll go Monday to register then have to wait an additional 10 days before I can have it.

So not to complain, but it truly is a long process. But I’m excited to finally find something that will hopefully make it easier for me to change the mags.

Oh I have a question

Do I need to clean and oil my new firearm before I use I the first time I bought it as new old stock. Should I have the springs checked? I feel like I’m buying a car.

@bentlogix The short answer is YES!!! Hopefully you get what you paid for. :crossed_fingers: You have no idea how the gun was treated in storage so I would clean and inspect the firearm before use. :+1:

Thank you!! I had a feeling but wasn’t sure. I’ll ask
Them to do all that during the 10 say waiting period.

Ok next question.

How often do I need to clean and check it. And where can I learn how to do these things

I’m such a girl right now.

Thank you for patience and advice. It’s is dearly valued and appreciated.

Hi I am a first time owner this year I have been very interested in CC but being from california is next to impossible to attain. I have been dry fire training and weekly range (if the ammo supply allows) target training. as of right now my favorite gun in my collection is my first a g20 SF the 10mm cart is easy to find thankfully. I’ve been getting my parents and friends into the idea of being a gun owner and helping them be comfortable with firearms in general.
At the moment I have been watching the current legal battles and its making me hopeful and worried haha.

Hello all, i have not had a lot of free time for chats. My name is Kevin, i am getting close to retiring, ( a few years maybe). I started shooting sports in 1965/66 with competiton 22 rifles. Spent many years doing it, stopped in high school. Took up archery and continued doing so for 15 years, bow fising, bird hunting, deer hunting. I did okay competitively, but never got got much on the plate. Bought my first hand gun in 1976. A used Dan Wesson in 44 Magnum. A friend helpped me understand reloading. The 44 was a ammo eater. Picked it back up a couple of years later when a close friend bought me a black powder revolver. Purchased a 45 calibre cap and ball rifle and did primitive hunting. Starting looking at competitive shooting. Second back injury put me for a few years. Back to school for another degree in computers and electronics. Sold everything to move to a new job after recovery, Started buying used guns and got a job carrying for Armored truck, My closest friend and i started shooting pistols and revolvers in personal competition. He beats me every time. But lots of fun. Married a great woman with 6 adult kids, started instructing at the military base for free. Taught basics. Now i get out maybe every couple of months. COVID has stopped all of it. Now I just clean my guns every few months and wait to get to the range again.

What if you had dual residency California and Nevada(the place where we have all the firearms), are you allowed to buy off roster firearms? Or would they need to be stored outside of the state?

I have no idea. I’m interested to find out how the lawsuits go. The mag limit capacity was decided to be unconstitutional in I think at the 9th cercuit but it was appeal by the state so however long it takes to
Get through the Supreme Court which would be awesome because it propanly would still found to be unconstitutional since we have more constitutional judges seated. There is a lawsuit to get rid of the gun roster but I believe at the state level. Everything takes for ever through the courts and that probably
End up in the Supreme Court which is better because it unravels the other state with similar unconstitutional gun laws.
