Hello,
My name is Giancarlo Padilla, truth be told I’ve never been one for forums and I have been a USCCA member for quite awhile. So this is a long time coming and I am glad to have taken the step. What got me interested in carrying was meeting my now wife and realizing that wanting to start a life and family with her gave me this overwhelming feeling of dread of wanting to protect her. I realized, of course, that the best tool for that job was the gift and right that the 2A awarded to me as an American. Five years ago I bought my Glock 19 (yes I’m a fanboy now) and now I carry a Glock 26 wherever I go. I have not taken any self defense classes which I aim to fix, but I do regularly visit the range to keep comfortable with handling my gun. I was fortunate enough to take my bootcamp training during my time in the Army seriously enough to have discipline, but I do want to train and better myself as our household protector. And that is why I am here, to surround myself with a community that actually walks the walk.

PS. I want to share something I am extremely proud of here. When I met my wife five years ago, she was the most liberal person I had ever met. Raised mostly in Austin, TX, (and yes I can hear you groaning Texans lol) When I brought up AR-15s she went ballistic! (intentional pun). Having a Glock on me was very hard for her, but she at least respected my rights to own it, she would not, however, accept AR-15s, ever! Fast forward 4 years and she completely sucker punched me when she asked me to take her to the range to shoot one. I’ve never been prouder and then she just this week it got better when she decided to vote for Trump rather than Biden. She is an amazing woman for better reasons than these of course, but she has made me proud in thinking for herself rather than follow whatever the family was doing. She is also a Nuclear Medicine Technician in our local hospital, so I want to give a shout-out to all our medical professionals and hospital personnel. Sorry for the rambling, but it is very boring in this house during this lock-down, thanks for listening if you got this far!

Such a nice story man! I’m so glad to hear that she is more politically aligned with you now. “Conservatism, the party of logic” as I say.

I know 2 couples who have been married for decades and are NOT politically aligned. They never watch the news together and NEVER talk politics. I could not imagine not being able to talk with my wife of almost 312 years now about this stuff. Sounds like you’ll be married for 312+ years as well!

I too live on the Texas Gulf Coast. I like to carry my CC guns in the Sneaky Pete. I carry a Taurus Millennium G2 Pro. I also carry a Sig P-938 when I wear my business casual. I CC carry my Sig P-238 in a Sneaky Pete when I wear shorts, and I carry a Glock G32 when i open carry. Open carry works the best when it really gets hot.
