Virginia may be ground zero!

WIth 74 counties passing 2A sanctuary resolutions, the governor and legislature is speaking up.

Honestly donā€™t see this working. The Dems are dreaming. They themselves must have overlooked the oath of office they took.

Well that will throw some gasoline on the fireā€¦

If the following chart is accurate can the President take control of the VA National Guard under Title 10 over the Governorā€™s objection?

To them the oath they took means nothing. Their actions speak much louder than their words.

Take notice. This state has gone off the rails and plans to use military force against American citizens who are exercising their constitutional rights. If you vote Democrat, you support this.

Combined a couple of threads about thisā€¦ Carry on.

I am glad I moved out of there in Northern VA it is a liberal haven glad I wonā€™t be there when it hits the fan. Has the potential to be very ugly. Most of the guard will not go for that most likely and then that opens up another mess.

I was thinking that most guardsmen would refuse to act against American citizens.

@Michael7 I hope thatā€™s true. They may be making a choice between following unconstitutional orders and giving up their freedom permanently if they are tried and convicted under military lawā€¦ thatā€™s not a simple choice to make.

I find this extremely worrisome ā€¦ ā€œusā€ and ā€œthemā€ ā€¦ THAT is a very bad sign.

ā€œThey can continue to have their meetings. They can continue to make sanctuary counties, but weā€™re going to do what Virginians have asked us to do,ā€ he (Gov. Northam) said, referring to the strict gun control platform credited for Democratsā€™ sweeping election wins in the state.

and this just makes my eyes bug out:

"Weā€™re not going to take peopleā€™s guns away,ā€ Northam insisted on Wednesday, dismissing the sanctuary measures.

Really? REALLY??? That is PRECISELY what yā€™all are proposing. :scream:  :rage: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

and thisā€¦

Rep. Gerry Connolly called on law enforcement officials to resign if they refuse to enforce the stateā€™s gun laws. ā€œI would hope they either resign in good conscience, because they cannot uphold the law which they are sworn to uphold, or theyā€™re prosecuted for failure to fulfill their oath,ā€ Connolly told The Washington Examiner.

Ok, so if the sheriffs donā€™t want to enforce unconstitutional laws that would violate the constitutional part of their oath of office, you think they should ā€¦ whatā€¦ just go home and bake cookies?

Because Iā€™m sure youā€™ve got someone in mind to appoint that would be ever so happy to just follow your orders. :rage:

We have lost our collective everlovinā€™ minds. :triumph:

Iā€™m very concerned about this. Wars have started over much less.

This is the kind of action which can lead to riots in the streets, literally. Next theyā€™ll call to "bring in the scoops. "

And apparently, so are some Virginia legislators.

  1. Forget their oath to the Constitution, these legislators are failing in their oath to enact the will of the people that elected them.

  2. The VA National Guard may not be as ready to enforce as this Senator thinks, and what exactly does enforce meanā€¦sending the soldiers around house to houseā€¦from the neighborhoods they were just mustered up from?

  3. There are a lot of States that have decriminalized marijuanaā€¦perhaps the President should activate the National Guard in those States to enforce Federal Law?

  4. While the President is considering activating the National Guard for additional to enforce Federal law as it applies to drug use, perhaps he can also use them in those sanctuary States and cities and enforce Federal immigration laws and back up ICE since local law enforcement is not.

I see all kinds of problems ahead for VA if they continue down this path. But they will provide us all (regardless of position) an interesting case study and template.

Zee,

Under Title 10, the Guard follows the orders of the Presidentā€¦in this case President Trump. These orders will be Constitutional. One of the ways military members could be tried under military law (UCMJ) would be to fire upon itā€™s own citizens and/or follow the orders of a tyrannical Governor. Iā€™m not going to get into specific codes under UCMJ, but itā€™s written in stone under Title 10.

Now, in a dire situation, President Trump could declare martial law and order the arrest of certain Political Heads, such as the Virginia Governor. And thenā€¦things get real interesting!

Yes, President Trump can and undoubtably would if the Governor proceeds with his threats.

There are, however, state defence forces, and Virginia has oneā€¦ these report to the governor, not federal authorities or the president.

Aside from that,if there is civil unrest, and the national guard is brought in, I think things will get very murky.

Nopeā€¦ theyā€™ll use people from other states. You donā€™t deploy Virginians in Virginia because itā€™s their home. You use companies from Oregon or Colorado or California or New York.

The State Defence Force doesnā€™t even come close to the number of armed civilians in Virginia, much less the number of armed civilians in neighboring States. It would be suicide. The Defence Force would stand down and most likely join forces with the non-State Force civilians.

Besides that, even the National Guards of each State are about 10-15% combat ready (And I use this term,ā€˜readyā€™, lightly). By combat ready, Iā€™m speaking of 11B (Infantry). The rest are support and about 99% of them donā€™t even know what a firearm is. I know this from experience. 6 years Oregon Army National Guard, 11B. Again, suicideā€¦the National Guard soldiers are NOT idiots. They would be slaughtered in the event of gun confiscation, etc.

@Zee You address some real concerns and I did some surfing. Virginia has a very small Virginia Defense Force that is directly answerable to the governor. They try to maintain 1,200 personnel. These folks arenā€™t front line combatants. More like an honor guard (show ponies). Not your ā€œOperatorsā€ for lack of better expression. Dynamic entry is a highly perishable skillset. You need constant practice with your team. Virginia National Guard has about 7,500 personnel. None of these folks have the current skills, continuous training, logistics, and effective leadership to conduct ongoing operations like state-wide search and seizure. The State Police have several Tactical Units that might come close in proficiency but they canā€™t conduct ops continuously.

Northam will have to petition DoD for the personnel he needs for state-wide confiscation. Who is the Commander in Chief of DoD? The same guy who has stood up to the Northamā€™s of the world for the last three years. President Trump will not permit widespread assaults against American Citizens by a rogue governor who has continually trashed-talked the President.

This is not about Patriots v Socialist. There are many power-grabbing interests both foreign and domestic that would love to start the blood flowing in Virginia to ignite massive civil strife. This is not a symmetric assault on American Citizens by a group domestic communist wannabees. Our nation is dealing with manipulative vermin from around the globe that are diligently working towards our fall. I question anyoneā€™s true intentions if they act excited about Civil War 2. I yield my soapbox.
