Great news for Virginians! One scary note though, there were over a million votes for socialism and that should scare the pants off everyone.

Yes, I agree. There’s lots of them that don’t really think they are Communist. That’s the other scarey thing some are blind to where their vote is actually going.

I 'spoz he’s better than the opposition - but you probably need to check his business background. It’s a mite scary…

Your head is set squarely on your shoulders, Craig6, but I do disagree with your weighted assessment of those with Common Sense vs the federal bureaucracy being a ratio of 1000:1. There is an old expression that sums up my feelings and explains why the Common Sense crowd keeps losing to the idiots: “The main trouble with Common Sense is that it isn’t as ‘Common’ as it used to be!”

Your attitude toward unions in the federal government reflects mine like a mirror. Tax supported government entities should not be allowed to unionize … and potentially hold the state of U.S. taxpayer hostage to wage increase demands when their earnings and benefit packages already exceed any comparable private sector jobs.

Good comments all …

Good in the short term because the Dems are so diabolically horrible, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that the 2 party paradigm still must die. Dems and Repubs are in a battle between who is “less awful” than the other side. We’re better than this.

Welcome to the family brother @Demond1 and you are in the right place at the right time.

Quickly over shadowed by 13 Repub giving the administration a so called Infrastructure Bill of 1.4 Trillion. The Rs and Ds are opposite sides of the same coin!

Having been involved in some of the infrastructure repair going on over the last several years I can say without a doubt that we need way more than $1.4T to keep this country from falling apart. The problem is that in a bill like this maybe 0.2-0.4T will go to vital infrastructure repair. The rest will be unneeded pet projects and pork.

I looked at the list of those that supported it. RINO’s, each and every one. They are on their way out, and this is their middle finger to the working man.

I agree, We need to continously send that message. :us:

I really don’t see consitutional carry happening in VA, at least until/unless Rs also gain a majority in the state senate in 2 years. At this point I’m just relieved that we’ll be putting the brakes on any additional gun control. They came really close to enacting a ban on commonly-owned rifles, which was actually halted and eventually left to die by my local state senator, surprisingly to me. Regardless, more was coming if T-Mac had won.

As far as reinstating the pre-emption law, I know that there is a court case against Fairfax County which went with every restriction they could legally enact. I’m not sure what the status of that case is but I think it has pretty good chance especially due to the ludicrous restriction on carry at “events that should require a permit but didn’t get one”. Anyway, the local gun-control may be at least partially undone without any legislative action, depending how that case turns out.

There was also a one-handgun-per-month restriction added. Honestly, I know that’s probably the most ridiculous measure they enacted but I’m not sure how much political capital it’s worth spending to repeal that. Just get a CHP and you’ll be exempted.

And that is why is is such a bad bill. Get a pre-approved government permission slip and they government “looks the other way”. Don’t want the pre-approved permission slip, sorry, you are now a second-class citizen. So wrong on so many levels, but solely on the Constitutional standing alone, it is wrong.

I agree 100% that it’s terrible, I’m just saying in terms of priorities and picking your battles, this one doesn’t need to be at the top of the list.

When there is a laundry list of bad laws, they all need to be addressed. The priority typically is what is mostly likely to be passed. Usually the least contentious bills are most likely to be passed. Stupid laws such as pre-emption and “one-gun-a-month” are such laws, and do a lot to fix confusion and address egalitarianism.

I was at the Richmond Gun Show today, and was at a table where two men were looking at knives, and discussing legality of them in Virginia with the vendor. The vendor mentioned they were legal, and I interjected that no, they were not legal in public. He said he has read Virginia law and is familiar with it, and they are legal. Then one of the men stated he is a LEO and that they are illegal for private citizens to possess in public in Virginia, but not for them (the other man apparently was a LEO, too). The LEO also stated, when questioned by the vendor, that yes, they are legal to possess on one’s private property. The vendor then pulled out a sign that was not visible behind everything on the table that apparently stated certain items are restricted to sale to LE. The officers were satified with that and left.
