I carry a full size Glock 41. Even with its 14 round capacity, I carry 2 extra magazines. Plus a carbine with 2 extra mags in the car. If the fecal matter ever hits the oscillating blades, I am going to get home.

When I Detail cars out front my AR is right inside the Garage doors and my M&P is on my hip.

We were talking about it at the gym yesterday, Sure seems like a eerie calm on the streets of SLC right now. Too calm for my comfort. Gotta wonder if it’s just the planning/supplying/preparation phase of things to come. We talk about it on here and right now my intuition is telling me something is amiss.

There was a case reported in a few industry magazines a couple of years back about a cop who managed to score 23 hits on the b.g. before putting one in the b.g.'s brain bucket whereupon the b.g. laid down and died. While the cop was busy hammering the b.g. with .45 acp slugs, the b.g. was equally busy shooting back at the cop. Fortunately for the cop I guess getting hit with .45 acp slugs was distracting enough that the b.g. didn’t hit the cop. At the end of the article it said the cop had changed duty weapon from a standard 1911 to a more current 9mm with standard 17 round mags and was carrying 4 extra 17 round mags. No one has ever said, “Next time I’m in a gun fight I’m not bringing so much ammo.” I know that is all pretty smart ass and doesn’t really answer the op’s question. Three guys with one gun carried by a guy who is pretty sure he knows how to run it 'cause he has watched a lot of TV, seven rounds from a 1911 that you know how to run should pretty much do it. Three guys all with guns who have served a tour in a rifle platoon in the Sandbox the subject cop’s current load out might not be enough. We have all seen the picture of the Marine NCO being carried out of a house where he had emptied his Beretta into a jihadist, including a field orchotomy with a 9mm 124 gr. round and that still didn’t put down the jihadist. Didn’t the military Beretta carry 19 rounds total in the mag with one in the chamber? Personally, I would not feel under-armed with a 1911 and two extra mags with 185 gr. hollow points as loads. Your mileage could well vary. There is no correct answer for one and all.

I learned a lot from this topic. I do carry on my way to work and on the job as my position is outdoors and not a gun free zone ( good thing). I work on an Eight Acre Nursery that is wide open not many places to hide behind and nowhere to run. I am alert at all times.
Since my position at my job is physical ( I lift and load six pack gallons of plants- truckloads) and I do carry many small tools ( pruning shears can be a weapon).
I carry my Sig loaded with an an extra mag as that is comfortable for me due to the size of the Sig with a turnakit . My glock stored in my vehicle in a safe loaded and with extra gear for both pistols and a first aid kit/ water. I have mapped out the area and park strategically. I always have my keys, cash and IDs’/ FOID , CC and my USCCA membership card with me in case I need to bolt. If I am not able to access my vehicle I am close to a train station that can take me to my home or one of my planned bug out areas.
We live in different times and need to plan ahead.
