So a lot of folks think semi-auto pistols and Concealed Carry when asked about carry guns. How about field and outdoors? Maybe open carry or carry on your own property. Maybe dual purpose self defense and hunting?
I love gun pictures. Do you have a gun you favor when out for a stroll in the woods?
One of my favorites is my custom 629-1 .44 Mag I had made by a great gunsmith friend of mine. It’s the Mountain Gun Smith&Wesson never made.
Light, handy, carries very well on my waist or other field rigs and if needed will flatten anything in North America as far as I care to shoot a handgun with irons. I actually conceal carry this gun every once in a while loaded with .44 Special Gold Dots.
For me if I’m out on the property I live out in the country little mix of fields and woods a very small pond having a problem with copperheads so the 22 usually with snake shot in it but my everyday carry is M&P core
When I’m out at night walking my dog on the trail by the lake it gets pretty dark. I carry my M&P 2.0 Compact with an inforce weapon mounted light on a kydex OWB HOLSTER, my Spyderco tenacious, an extra 15 round mag and its kydex pouch and a small Kangora E100 flashlight.
I like that .22 & almost bought the m&p but got a sig 320 instead… then… I found out I could get a grip module with the starburst pattern & wow… what a difference… now my320 is about the same width as my 1911 and even though the original grip felt good the Wilson combat is even better, I just wish I could get a better rear sight for it… I don’t really care for a red dot type of sight and the sights on the x-carry Is difficult for me to see
Enzo I agree with you,I live in N.C. so working in the yard is humid and hot so I owb my M19
carry comp.I am a large person so I can conceal med.and large frame with ease.To each his own,but I like wheel guns.
Thank you for liking my revolver! It is one of my favorites. Unfortunately this particular revolver is a noe of a kind custom that was built for me and very difficult to duplicate since S&W does not like to see parts like cylinders and barrels.
There are similar models with some slight differences like the built in lock and frame mounted firing pins. S&W sell a 629 Mountain Gun that has gone through several iterations over the years. The current one has the internal lock but previous versions do not. New ones can be found through S&W dealers and older models can be found on Gun Broker somewhat frequently. Happy shopping!
Hi! I love wheel guns too and you are correct, hot weather is a huge challenge here in the South. I can’t carry blue guns next to my body in the summer. My sweat must be highly acidic and I just eat normal bluing right through so rust starts forming right away. That’s why many of my CC guns are either Stainless or have new high tech finishes that are sweat and humidity proof. I would LOVE to carry my beautiful blue classics but that is NOT in the cards so they are basically safe queens or I carry it OWB in the winter with layers of clothing between me and those guns.
This 629 is pretty much a walk in the woods carry piece and mostly a fall/winter gun.
For me that red dot Changed the game altogether both eyes open not losing peripheral awareness I find it much faster than a traditional three. Sight but there was absolutely a lot of dry-fire practice all I could say is if you have a buddy that has one give it a try it really makes a difference no question about it best of luck and your Sig that’s a beautiful gun they make top quality stuff
