That’s what I get for typing while in bed. I meant he won re election in 1864 and it was over in 1865. Politicians propose all sorts of wacky things they do not believe in or no will not go anywhere all the time. However he proposed banning Ukrainian Orthodox Churches that report to Moscow from operating. That’s a major point you left out. While I admit it is shitty, the Patriarch in Moscow has been openly supporting the war in Russia. So Patriarch Kirill is hardly an honest broker.

That was the final straw; Putin even said that in his speech to the nation as the reason to invade, the same as the US concern over Cuba back in 1962.
Even the pro-Ukraine Washington Post, which would love World War III to sell more papers, reported that Zelensky knew when Russia would invade and did not warn his people because of money. “If we had communicated that … then I would have been losing $7 billion a month since last October, and at the moment when the Russians did attack, they would have taken us in three days,” Zelensky said.

Yes I am aware. I made typos in My date. You may he missing some context here. There is the prevailing Ill informed belief that Zensksy is a tyrant in waiting. And that because Zelansky does not want to hold an election in a war torn country because it would not be practical. Given polling places make nice juicy targets. So someone brought up Lincoln running for reelection during the civil war but I said that’s not a fair comparison as the war was at it’s end and the south could not launch cruise missiles in the north in the 1860s.
