I don’t down play ANYONE’S firearms purchases for the simple fact that at least they have taken the first steps into the firearm community and that maybe all they could afford. That being said, I know all too well about HI-POINT pistols, and my girlfriends dad thought he was hot sh*t with his. And one day he decided to bring it out onto my training range at the house. And knowing the stuff I do about firearms I should have told him to NOT bring it.
He first shot one of my RIA 1911’s and he loved it a lot. He then proceeded to load the full magazine of .45 ACP ammunition and 3 trigger pulls later it exploded no less than 5 yards to the right of me. Thank Jesus it didn’t SEVERELY hurt either of us. His hand got hurt a little and I caught some shrapnel in my side but nothing major.
That was the day he realized WHY I have an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) and had the knowledge to use it. Seeing as I’m a combat veteran, the pain in my side not felt for a while until my shirt started feeling wet and her pointed and asked if I was ok while I was treating his wound until the paramedics got to the house (30 minutes later). So yeah, HI-POINT is ugly as all hell AND not very safe in my opinion
Hi Point? No let’s be honest. It’s pretty homely. Might get the job done, but it wasn’t beat with the ugly stick, it fell out of the ugly stick tree and hit every branch on the way down.
I’m just having fun. They’re made for a price point. Just so much sizzle is available. Sizzle comes at a cost.
@Bugleboy Well it’s not your Lamborghini of firearms but I’m betting that it could probably punch a hole or two into the human body with not much problems.
It looks very utilitarian and basic and I am also betting that there’s more than one or two in our nations police evidence locker room’s. Come on; even Edsel Ford said “Ford can build an automobile for every budget” and so can gun manufacturers.

Yeah, but it’s just so much fun poking at Hi Point.
I don’t really have a problem with them if you have one that is super dependable. That’s one of the main attractions of a firearm. I don’t own a Hi Point, but I understand this new generation is a great improvement.
I do own a Hi Power. Now admit there is artistic beauty we should recognize, and some just don’t have it. They weren’t designed for that.
@Bugleboy. So you bought the Browning then? I was wondering I figured you would make mention sooner or later.
I just share what I like. I’ve had it for a while now. I’ve been blessed, and I’ve blessed others. They are, no matter how pretty or useful or fun, just things; possessions.
I have some weapons I consider unattractive. I like them anyway. They work.

I’m not a brand snob, but I am a collector.
My first handgun was an RG23 with 4” barrel in .22. Cheap and incredibly poor quality (cheap was the hook in those days😏). I learned to shoot a handgun with it, but it was about as dangerous to anything beside it as to anything in front of it (can you say “spits lead”). That tends to occur when the cylinder doesn’t line up with the barrel. Had it for about 6 months before I traded it in on a PPK😊.
Your weapons, in a very small way, are like your children.
The ones who give back the love and time and commitment become highly favored. I didn’t say they’re nore valuable, but highly favored. You can’t help it. The relationship works, and it’s special. You’re not offended by a lack of perceived glamor.
If there is a weapon that is favored due to reliability or sentiment, that one is beautiful in it’s own way.
But!!! An unreliable weapon to which I have no sentimental attachments is an ugly thang.
After all, beauty is only skin deep, but ugly cuts clean to the bone!
My mama always said ugly is as ugly does.
And that’s all I got to say about that.

I happened to see one of these in a local pawn shop about 15 years ago and just couldn’t help myself.
The limited Hollywood exposure that this pistol had in the first Blade Runner and The Matrix convinced me that I just had to have it.

Ugly as sin and extremely difficult to shoot due to what felt like a 40 lb trigger pull. Sold it for a small profit when I found another acquaintance (sucker) who just had to have it for his collection.
It is pretty ugly, is there nothing you can do to resolve the ungodly trigger pull?
