Taurus Arms-In general

I have owned and or operated three varied Taurus firearms and have found them to be highly reliable and to have held value. Case in point. In 1994 I purchased a Taurus 357/38, 8” barrel, black with Mahogony grips. I carried that gun until 2019. As I went to trade it in on a Ruger GP100 357/38, because of the way I had cared for it and its now discontinued status it was appraised at $400.00. The shop master asked me if I really wanted to get rid of it. He liked it so much, he bought it from me at $450.00 It was my on duty carry gun for two decades and it never failed me. Stable, reliable in any conditions. I still have my backup, a 1” five shot snub 38 from Taurus as well, same age, never an issue. I now trust that to my wife for her personal carry weapon. I would recommend this manufacture; they get it right.

Site safety officer and VIP escort since 1994.

Greetings Charles, and welcome to the forum. We are glad you found us.

I have only owned one Taurus weapon in my life but have handled and operated a few others. The one I owned, which my ex currently has, is a Taurus PT 58 chambered in .380 ACP. I loved that little pistol for the time I had access to it, but it was the Wife’s pistol and when she left, it went also.

Another Taurus weapon I have had extensive experience with was the PT99 in 9mm. Back in the mid 80’s I had purchased one of the last run M9 pistols Beretta manufactured in Brazil before selling the entire plant to Taurus. One of my buddies had a first run PT99’s from the same plant. The only thing Taurus did before making pistols was change the name on the pistol. All the physical parts were identical and the PT99 shot as good as my M9 did. We could swap all the removable parts back and forth between pistol with no problem.

The revolvers are very good, I’ve got two and love them both. Can’t vouch for any of the semi autos.
