I’ve been shopping knives,again - being curious about Crucible’s “Magnacut”, I’ve discovered that it takes two sophisticated and costly processes to produce it - and a 3-foot bar of raw stock can range from $70-to-$130! FYI - KURT

Coming from the industrial engineering world i can tell you exotic/specialized alloys are no joke, they work really well for what they are designed for but they ain’t cheap…

Worked in the aerospace business myself for 38 years, and got intrigued by this thread. I found the best material for cutting was a “stringer” of inconel coming off a lathe lol. Looks like the expense may have increased due to logistics of the bankruptcy and having a NY-France-back to NY production sequence.
