My preferred driving sunglasses are Maui Jim rose lenses, mostly I wear Oakley with their dark black lenses when it’s bright/when not in the car. For driving you probably want something that increases contrast and isn’t overly dark.

Going from sun to shade is harder on older eyes. Your irises just don’t respond as quick as they used to. Wearing dark lenses can be a PITA if where you are travelling have alot of light and dark transitions. Sometimes the less dark special UV blocker types are better. They have a yellow tint, but…

I consider the yellow safety glasses my cloudy day glasses. For me they seem to brighten things up. I do not like them in bright sunlight.

I do try to live within my means but thought I would splurge for a pair. I usually hold on to a pair of sunglasses for 5 or 6 years minimum. Lens falling out is the main reason I have to replace sunglasses.

Are your glasses polarized and are your windows tinted?
I’ve noticed some funkiness when looking through both depending on the angle of the sun.
