Anybody know much about GatorZ eyewear I just got a pair of ballistic rated normal looking sunglasses what’s everyone’s personal preference? Basically I don’t like to look up oakleys
What is the specification behind the “ballistic” rating?
Z87.1+ or whatever is the most common.
Yes, that is correct they are also with black lenses, not the clear ones and on the side hard cerakote OD green as well obviously scratch resistant. Very durable I hear
Garand thumb on YouTube channel has a lot of great information on different opinions and subjects
$215.00 on average.
Yep, I got the ballistic ones. Magnum type of profile for 205$
I have Wiley X and I’ve had Revision. I tend to look up what’s in the military approved eyewear list and go with something there. I also like glasses with replaceable lenses. A trainer once told me UV degraded the lenses and they can wear out in as little as six months. I’ve never replaced mine, but need to.
I don’t know anything about Gatorz. Let us know how you like them after you’ve used them for a while.
Personal choice since 2009. Don’t think they are available anymore but the close second are the Rudy Project, Rydon ( slim ) ImpactX Photochromic sun and shooting glasses. Replacement lenses are available and can be polarized!
They are not advertised as “shooting” glasses as they were in the past, probably due to PC!
The product materials are used on Apache windshield panels.
Technically speaking the ANSI rating was Z80.3 2008
Today that rating is Z87.1
Extremely comfortable, sometimes I forget I have them on! The other upside is RX availability!
Cool will do
Sounds good I’m just busy working on polishing a car like a 95 Camaro Z28.
Bright Red Color
Funny you should mention that. Was my first car. Took it airborne in ‘76, totaled it, then joined the Navy! All history from there.
Don’t know squat about cars except how to fly them!
Beautiful car. Yeah my brother likes to drive fast. I said I’m just trying to get up for you personally. Pay somebody to detail that they’d probably charge you a lot more. I told him I want $500. LoL So much work but it’ll be worth it if you have a resells it. He bought it for 5500 $ with about 112,000 mi on it.
When it’s time to get prescription glasses, I just pay extra for the lens so they’re also good to wear for the range.
That’s what I did on my last pair. They had safety glasses so they put in my prescription.
I don’t need one with a prescription honestly I hope the ballistic rated ones are just as good as polarized lenses.
Yep ANSI Z87.1
is the civilian spec. The milspec MIL-PRF-31013
in eyewear. The main difference is the milspec is a larger faster projectile it has to protect against. There is an “Authorized Protective Eyewear List” (APEL) that states which brands/models have been tested by Government to meet the standards.
I prefer to get one from the milspec list because I like “the most protection”, but from a practical perspective of the civilian user on a range ANSI Z87.1 is more than enough.
If you need prescription shooting eye protection, I like Hunter’s Gold which makes those lenses Z87.1
They have a new model blast shield but I didn’t want to spend more money
I have been looking for over glasses ballistics grade eye wear…
sadly what is available is not all that much
What I use has an RX insert that sits on the nosepiece.
