Spare Mag Carriers - What do you use?

I know this has been discussed before, but just felt like starting a new one.

My spare mag carrier began with this:

It was very “grey man” and worked great for years, but eventually the velcro wore out.

In search of the better mouse trap, I tried the magnetic clip on route thinking I would be quicker if I didn’t have to lift the now worn out velcro flap:

I ended up with either loose cartridges in my pocket or on the ground depending on pocket or belt carry.

Today I am using a Muddy River leather mag carrier, no more dropped cartridges :+1:

I love it on my belt for short magazines like a 7 round 9mm, but a longer magazine gouges me in the side moving around and sitting.

So what do you folks use for comfort with longer magazines?

I have a couple of these for a few different models, they can be bulky and tie up a pocket but they are durable because most of these I have had for 5 years.

I’m using NeoMag Holder, the magnetic one you didn’t like. :grinning:

I’m my case it the best concealment and fastest access to spare mag.
It requires a little adjustment how the mag is grabbed from the packet, comparing to regular holders, but still this one is the most convenient for me.

I use a simple nylon mag holder that clips to the outside of my belt. It looks much like a knife holder

I use the Alien Gear mag carrier. You can adjust the orientation to be vertical or horizontal or any angle in between.

My choice also. A little effort, but well worth it.

Blackhawk kydex, sturdy and durable, adjustable tension.
Prior to that, leather Kimber single mag holder.

I have some mag pouches by Bravo Concealment. They have survived some training classes.

Love their stuff. I wish that they had more/better sales.

My spare mag rides next to my wallet in the pocket on my left butt cheek positioned exactly how I want it for a fast grab and reload. Been doing this for years and practice all the time with this setup. Works great and stays in place very well.

I use the optional IWB magazine holder that accompanies the Phenom Stealh holster from G-Code Tactical.

Love them. They’re compact, fuzz-lined (quiet & non-abrasive) kydex so the magazines for each firearm that I have fit perfectly.

I don’t always carry an extra mag but when I do it looks like this…

You need to add a body cam to record SLC Gone Wild. :grinning:

I got the Muddy River hookup from you, and love it with short mags, but tall mags gouge above waist.

I have 2 of these. 1 for each of my gun. 17 and 12 count mags. They clip on my gun belt real good.

Galco PMC Pocket Magazine Carrier most of the time:

I have one of those for my 9mm (only carry occasionally). Although it works well to protect the magazine, it takes two hands to get the mag out. This is why I am happy with the Galco pocket magazine holster as a non belt option.
