Somewhere, John Wayne is laughing

With the exception of John Wick and Tom Cruise, Hollywood for me is dead. I prefer to peruse my library of DVDs and watch a film that is not obsessed with gender and genitalia. Hollywood has always touched on the untouchable but these days Hollywood - and especially Disney - tries to touch your children in areas that we would never dream of. So I’m actually happy to see a failure by Disney - make that two (counting Elemental) because when a Dylan Mulvaney is more popular than Bette Davis in her heyday, well, let’s just say that something ain’t right in the world.

FYI I know that John Wayne was a racist, sexist SOB but at least he wore pants and never tried to be a lady. And yeah I believe he would’ve kicked Dylans’ ass every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Do they still make movies❓
Are there still theaters standing
Agreed Tom and Keanu! I have to add Denzel Washington
The last best movies Gladiator! Batman, Goodfellas ( from the neighborhood ), Aliens and Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 ( again from the neighborhood ) to name a few!
Glad I built a substantial video library, one that will sustain me till the end!
There are no actors left! The actors we came to love and respect are now teaching kids to read lines.

I’ve been privileged to view the latest Academy Award, it’s an Oscar nonetheless!

I don’t know why people hated the new Indiana Jones movie. It was fun.
Were they expecting Masterpiece Theater or something?

Perhaps Harrison Ford is too old for this… but still Indiana Jones is one of the best movies to watch.

I personally prefer to watch another “Indiana Jones” over another “Dominic Toretto”… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I just rewatched We were soldiers by Mel Gibson. Knowing the back story about the soldiers that had told their story about what happened then seeing parts that they talked about was epic. It really put you there with them.
John Wick series was enjoyable movie too, but you will have to let the bullet proof and pain proof John Wick slide. Still entertaining it amazes me that there would be so many assassins and guns.in New York City.
I prefer movies you can watch several times over and try to catch the easter eggs.
I had thought of going to the movie, Indiana Jones but I have been questioning it. I will wait to watch it for free on T.V.

I’d say it was better than the last one. The Indiana Jones series seems to have better luck with odd-numbered movies.

I read somewhere that in order for a movie to qualify for movie of the year this year it had to have transgenders and same sex couples. I don’t know if that’s true because you can’t believe anything that you read anymore, but if true what does that say for quality of acting, or entertainment value? I like movies that were made before 2020. True there were “wokeness” in movies then , but since then movies went to $hit with the “wokeness”. We need more “Escape from New York” type movies.

I think the first step to evaluating the truth of what is read, is to find out who wrote it and where it was read

I agree and the movie still tanked.

I have been watching British/Scottish/Irish/French/German shows. Mostly Detective shows. I Have given up on Movies and American T.V. for the most part, except NCIS and the Blacklist. I also watch old Westerns on INSP.

My favorite movie (apart from a John Wayne movie) would have to be Braveheart but that’s probably because of the Scotsman in me. I read the biography of William Wallace he was even more savage than the movie portrayed him. At the battle of Falkirk he killed the British commander then skinned him and made a belt for his scabbard.

I understand Sir, I try to limit the flow of money to
that entity but I collect films (dvd/Blu ray) so I can
watch over and over again. When I did New Mexico security
it rekindled the Love I had of films.
Lone Survivor, Sicario 1&2 2 Guns etc. It was fun @ the time meeting
the retired Seals, SF’s and Armorers…oh yeah and actors :upside_down_face:
At a time I needed some fun and distraction in my life as I healed.
I haven’t darkened a Theater’s doors in like (20) years.

It seems that explosions, gunfights, foul language, large breasts, men’s bottoms and the use of intoxicants and/or drugs have taken the place of good acting.
