Should USCCA Concealed Carry Magazine print the bad with the good?

I think the U S pravda does the job of reporting incessantly any gun confrontation that goes bad for the honest citizen, along with publishing their names, place of employment, family members, what kind of car they drive, political affiliation, who they’ve dated, what they had for breakfast…

Interesting post, reminds me of trying to view from different perspectives.

I saw that USCCA magazine also has a different section, discussing what could have been done differently, better, and why; After an event. I think it’s the same section another shared above.

But yes, generally, a realistic balance makes sense to me. I think people are vulnerable, are influenced, and learn from the examples others “convey”. I believe it a big responsibility - when we put information out there.

It’s the end user who bears the price, good or bad.

Wherever the media or information comes from, whether it propaganda or a course, “we” can view it, elect to ignore it, or have a questioning attitude.

Hello and welcome @Willie29

The magazine should print 3 pages or more of incidents of all types - and mail it in a discrete, plain-brown wrapper to discourage snoops. I cancelled my subscription when I realized I could be a potential target for a thief or burglar because of this. Reporting incidents could wake you up to weaknesses in your combat mindset and home defense. More info - less gear!

Printing both sides of the issues is always a good thing. We should be informed of the down side of a situation and then be advised on how to avoid it. The truth shall set you free, sometimes.

Anthony DeWitt (I hope I got his name right) often covers those kinds of incidents in depth in the magazine. And Kevin and Tom Greive talk about stuff like that on the YouTube channel.

I remember reading articles that went into great detail of negative consequences. I find the articles pretty well balanced overall. Just my humble opinion.

Things like its gonna cost you 100 to 200 K if you were in the right or not most of the time unless its so obvious that no charges are filed wich can happen but thats a big if. And what really shows me what direction we are going in is the fact that we have to belong to a group or organization to even have a fair chance even if we are in the right.

There was a time, not that long ago when negativity ruled our little slice of the Internet. Personally, I disliked the “Negativity”.

If the negativity was about my reply I just call it reality. If not forgive me if I was mistaken.

–I’m catching up on (relatively) newer (the shorter ones) Ask an Attorney videos in the Protector Academy on the member site (requires Elite USCCA membership)

Multiple videos in a row on bad shoots where the carrier (and some other people online, following videos) claimed self defense but…it wasn’t self defense it was more like murder.

Good discussion with Kevin and Tom about them.

Episodes 38-39-40

Vegas area trainer who shot guy trying to drive away in his car because guns were in it…buy getting beat up on the ground outside while a crowd watches, attacker gets up and walks away, beat up guy chases him down from behind shooting him to death…and then road rage where guy 1 gets out with a bat and guy 2 gets out to confront them but when guy 2 pulls a gund and shoots guy 1 (bat) runs away however guy 2 chases him down from behind shooting them then walks up and shoots him basically in the back of the head while he’s on the ground.

Those videos

You are forgiven. It was about your reply.

That is why the negative of a negative is a positive.

For as much as USCCA covers its success stories in the magazine, Yes they should cover bad outcomes. But rather then frame is as USSCA messing up, they should from it as a teachable moment. Explain the circumstances and outcome no matter how fortunate, and explain what went wrong. What mistakes did the member make, was this a situation of a DA overcharging and that was the reason. We just cant look at the good stories, we need to know when then things went wrong, simply because the reason why can be beneficial.
