Welcome, Cory38.

You would do best to check with:
*Your employer.
*Indiana law enforcement and/or lawyer
*Michigan, City of Detroit, and Wayne County law enforcement and/or lawyer.
What you need is accurate and correct information concerning your specific situation. There are a lot of great people on here who will mean to help you, but you need defend-yourself-in-court grade information, not informed opinion.

One more thought: If you get info or advice from law enforcement, make sure you get it in writing, even if that writing is simply a refence to the applicable laws and statutes which you can then look up.

@Cory38 You can check here also, MI just tightened their vehicle storage laws so check into that. As @David38 said CYA. :+1:

Welcome to the community! You would need to see what your employer’s company policy is regarding firearms on company property if you drive for a trucking company that owns/leases their company commercial trucks, unless you own your own truck, and are an independent trucker. Furthermore, you need to know reciprocity, crossing stateliness, gun laws of the states you travel to. Having a lockbox for your firearm would be a necessity since that’s the trend these days while traveling. Consider the other inputs from the community. I retired as a commercial truck driver and their policy was “No Firearms allowed”.

I’m a driver for a big brown shipping company, their official policy is no firearms.

As had been said above, check first with your company policies.

Then check the local and state laws for anywhere you might be passing through.

Your CCW permit may not have reciprocity in a state or county that you cross into during your travels.

i dont care what the company says. A company wont protect your rights. at the end of the day if i get into a situation and i have to defend my life and my job fires me. OH WELL… i can always get another job, i cant’ get another life! So. “what my job dont know wont hurt them”. as far as reciprocity goes from IN to MI Michigan honors IN license to carry handgun. But is the city of DETROIT different?
