Right vs Right

I would expect to lose that case.

I didn’t see a sign…I didn’t look for a sign…and I generally do not look for signs. And my little LCP is in my pocket all the time.

So when my right prevents someone else from exercising their right, there must be a common-sense compromise, yes? I live in Texas, with some great open-carry and common-sense self-defense laws - but Texans knows from the wild-west days that sometimes people aren’t at their best - that’s why you can’t carry in a bar, or a courtroom or a handful of other common-sense places. Most Texans have a strong lockbox in their vehicles - it’s the same level of responsibility as having a strong gun-safe in our homes.
When a gang-bangers friends bring assault weapons into a courtroom and stare that the jury - that’s obviously intimation, and compromises the right to a fair trial. Same same when union thugs (or whomever) start bring weapons to polling places, people are intimated into not voting.
Common-sense restrictions are not at odds with my overall rights, as long as we keep a close check on the ‘why’ to make sure they aren’t overcompensating for people’s general tendency toward stupidity.

Ahhh… Your one of those. You just love to tell people how wrong they are and how right you are. Gotcha…
Have a nice day.

This also made me wonder, if a polling place normally has prohibited signs, even when there’s no polling occurring, might that also stress its importance or value in terms of carrying not being allowed.

I noticed in one particular state’s law, the state even goes so far as lists places where it’s prohibited.

Kevin’s pro tip (from USCCA) brief video focuses on businesses though:

Looks like the Left’s buzz words to me.

People in other states are able to handle this, why can’t Texans?

Rhetorical.

Millions to tens of millions of carriers have lived in states where it’s legal to carry at a bar for decades, and it’s not a problem

There are even states where it’s legal to carry at a bar and drink. My God what is the government thinking giving people all these Rights and Liberties and Freedoms?!

(and it’s not a problem, evidenced by the fact that people from other states don’t even know such a thing exists…if it was a problem you know the media would be all over it)

Another way of phrasing gun control.

Things like 10 round magazine capacity limits, semi automatic rifle bans, red flag laws, gov’t permission slips required to bear arms, and making it illegal to have a designated driver are all commonly referred to as common sense.

I can carry in the state I vote in. We vote at a civic center. No restrictions on carrying there. Guessing by the people I know who vote there and knowing the clientele where I live, I would be very willing to wager I am not the only one bringing a gun in. The only way I’d lose that bet is if people are coming from work and can’t carry at work. If I couldn’t vote and carry, I’d find a way to vote and leave the gun wherever I had to.

Just wanted to add, I believe carrying is important, but it’s not the only important thing nor is it the most important thing.

An Airport is my polling place, so you know the rules here…they have the booths set up in a conference room upstairs …I just wear my winter coat and pack anyway

Welcome! What state? Some states it’s perfectly legal to carry in an airport as long as you don’t try to go into a sterile/secure area (like, don’t go through TSA)

That’s how it is in Utah. As long as you stay outside of the TSA “Line” you’re good.

I would’ve simply voted. Most hospitals ban firearms, too. Would you skip medical treatment, to make a stand about your Second Amendment rights (which I support, btw)?

IME, in most states hospitals are not off limits and signs don’t have weight of law. I, don’t think I’ve ever gone to any hospital in any capacity where it was actually illegal to carry there.

This is just one example where Texas has more gun control and less trust of its citizens than most other states. I see hospitals listed off limits in Texas. Those Texans and their gun carry bans SMH
