I’m 64…a former LEO and Certified Firearms Instructor. I’ve EDCed pretty much everything. My 2 favorites are my Walther PPQ M2 and my M&P .45 Shield.

This question is so dependent on someone’s lifestyle. Personally, I would like to carry a compact, 15 round handgun everyday, because it is easy to shoot, and has great capacity. But I live in the South, so it’s hard to conceal in the warmer months. Also, my job requires me to go into a good deal of “gun free” zones (like the Post office and other federal buildings) , so un-holstering/ re-holstering is a challenge with a bigger gun. I currently rotate between a micro 9 and pocket 380. Not ideal, but I’m good with it. Gotta be sure to practice with them because not as easy to shoot accurately. But the gun you will carry is better than the one in the safe!

How do you carry it? Feels like a major transition for me from Shield M&P9 compact to VP9SK and my guess is I picked the wrong holster.

I love my Tulster holsters. They allow me to position the firearm and mag holsters where I like, which is ~4 o’clock and 8 o-clock, respectively.

The HK is wider and heavier, as is the related mag, but with jeans and a rigid belt, I don’t notice them much. For me, a lot depended on the cant of each. This is my tiny bug with the similar but not the same holster I ordered for the SAR9 (in another thread), as Tulster didn’t make one for the SAR9.

Would pics help?

I would appreciate it to eliminate guessing on my part. Didn’t think it would be different from when I carried the SR9C.

Generally, leaving 4 fingers (±1) between the side loops (located at 3 & 9 on Levi’s) and the holsters seems to be the most comfy for me. Not digging into me or car seats.

PPS-smallest/thinnest

SAR9-my only full size carry, and there is surely a difference from the others. One being the holster with more limited cant/adjustment.

Shield EZ

VP9SK-thicker than PPS but still small

Thanks for the pics. Lefty me always carried at 1 o’clock but 8 could work with VP9SK. I’m checking out Tulster now.

Yep, I was being kind to my rotator cuff.

I did a week of IWB at 8 o’clock and ended up settling on the familiar 1 o’clock with a Muddy River Tactical—tuckable holster

The “best” edc? The one you can shoot the best and are willing to have it confiscated if you have to use it in a self defense situation.

The one you are never FORCED to use.

I agree with alot here. Its like chevy vs ford. Everyone knows chevy sucks but folks still drive them:grin:

For me, I’ll take my shield 9 at appendix carry. Works the best for me

Beware old dudes carrying 5 and 6 round revolvers, and 7 round semis.

First official sidearms were 1911s and S&W M10s and Remington 870s. It was the 70s. Today, depending on the Texas heat, I’m likely to be carrying a 1911 or Commander size, a S&W 19-3 2.5” or a J frame 442 airweight. Lately, a Kahr CW9. Deep Oh S#÷t, last result 22 WMR mini revolver. Add to that a combat folder, Tourniquet, and a cell phone. Another tool is to be aware of at least 3 exits in different parts of where we are. The We is a combat veteran wife who knows what gunfire sounds like and panic looks like. Train with your team, never be surprised.
