Sheriff Judd gets a gold star from me!

What do you guys think about officers in Miami kneeling down with protesters, or sheriff in Michigan walking with them?

From me, too.

I support them. They are trying to make peace.

I would call it positive policeing in the face of trying times. :+1:

I think its great. Setting aside for just a moment the Floyd situation… Police should be one with the community they serve. We should all share the same goals which is a safe community where there is less of the “us vs them” and more of the “we” are in this together.

It’s a good move. That particular area may not have been rioting at the moment, so they had a moment in time to show some compassion. Which always works better to calm, than hitting someone with a stick.

Don’t personally love the bugs and heat in central Florida though…

I think it is great when the police and protesters communicate. I am sure most police are with them as far the killing of George Floyd. I just have a problem with the looters and violent criminals…

And snakes and gaters and hurricans and and and… Tongue in cheek, I am a Northern boy, I can tolerate the cold better. :+1:

I don’t like the optics of police kneeling, but I can’t blame any officer who defuses a tense situation.

In my town, the police walked with a large group of protesters. The protesters said they marched together and declared victory. The police said they escorted the protesters back to their cars to keep them safe after curfew. All in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

The Denver police chief did the same and it really defused the situation. Police now taking a more relaxed posture towards the protesters, and that too seems to be making a big difference. Other police leaders in Colorado are following this playbook as well.

You really do need to separate out legitimate protest from those who take advantage of the situation to riot and loot.

I have guns and I always carry as does my family. Do not try to break in or try this domestic terrorism here or I will send you to at least the hospital! Just like the Sheriff advises

And there’s the real crux of it. The latter are just criminals doing what criminals do.

A lot of people assume that since you own a gun you want to kill. The last thing any sane person wants is to take another persons life. the mental damage that goes along with that would be great. That being said ,I would rather live with it than be carried out in a body bag. That’s why we all have this service. its like a parachute. You hope you never need it but, God forbid, you do its there. These looters think this is some sort of game. Like GTA or something. there is no respawn in life.

I understand some people are hurting inside and want to protest and see one mans death as an opportunity and capitalize on it. I don’t understand how the rioters want people outside of their group to have sympathy for their cause when they are terrorizing communities and destroying lives.

The rioters are not a group with a cause.

Continuing the discussion from No looting tolerated in my home:

I FEEL HORRIBLE FOR THE MANY BLACK AMERICANS WHO ARE DECENT PEOPLE:

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GEORGE FLOYD:

I Can’t Listen to or Watch the Media Self-Analysis Anymore. It’s Making me Sick to my Stomach to See & Hear the Stupid Media Psychoanalysis of the Issue, Trying to Find some Blame to Attribute to Everyone.

Black American – George Floyd Is Dead . . . Murdered by Bad White Cops in Minneapolis – Virtually all America (White & Black) Have Been Sickened by the Murder of George Floyd . . . People Protested to Punish the Bad Cops . . . The People’s Voices Were Heard .

It’s One Thing . . .To Legitimately Protest – But it’s Entirely a Different Matter when the Purpose of the Protest has been Heard, Acknowledged & Succeeded . . . And the People are Too Stupid to Know that they’ve Won & it’s Time to Accept the Win.

My understanding is Derek Chauvin is white; Thomas Lane, I could not find anything on; and the other two based on their names, Tou Thao, is probably Vietnamese, and Alexander Kueng likely Chinese. However, I don’t believe this had anything to do with race.

I don’t think race is the reason this happened either. In his 19 year career, Chauvin has had that many complaints against him, with a couple of official reprimands.
