I’ve been using the JMCK 2.5 Claw for my 43X for a few years now (that’s my go to holster model, own a couple for other guns). It has a claw and two clips and is somewhat bulky. It’s a 48 size holster to help with tipping. That being said, I wanted something smaller that was 43x size so I ordered their standard AIWB holster with a mono block. The holster doesn’t have a claw (claw is built into the kydex, it’s specifically 43x size so it’s smaller, and I think the monoblock is going to be easier to take on and off.
Claw 2.5 is a great holster. It will be used for when I have to tuck in my shirt. It’s a really good holster for larger firearms as well. 43x doesn’t need as much help to conceal for my larger frame.
Umm… so much jargon and lingo, I don’t understand. What’s the difference between a claw and a clip? What is a 43X? What is a 48 sized holster, and how does it help with tipping? What is a mono block and how will it be easier to take on and off? How is your new holster tuckable?
I’m searching to find a truly tuckable IWB holster myself, so I’d like to understand your recommendation.
AIWB is Appendix In Waste Band. The holsters I bought are specifically for aiwb.
Look up DCC clips. They are tuckable. Vedder has a tuckable clip too. I prefer DCC clips. Some people don’t like them, they are very rigid and aggressive. They work for me though. I do not tuck in often. The mono block is made by the same company as DCC clips. Easier to put on for daily use though. I like secure rigid metal clips personally. If I could only have one holster my original JMCK Claw holster is more versatile, but my new JMCK holster will be more comfortable.
JMCK is a brand of holster JM Custom Kydex.
Claw is the piece that’s on the side that gets pulled in with the belt.
G48, G43X are Glock slim line pistols. G48 has a longer slide. I own the g43x which has a shorter slide. If you want to learn more look up “keel principal”. I just wanted a smaller holster. I use sturdy metal clips, a wedge (Velcroed foam wedge on back I’ve upgraded to the Mastermind Tactics Pillow), and standard 10 round Glock mags. I’m not worried about the grip of the gun spilling over. I need something more comfortable.
Here’s a good informational AIWB Kydex Holster video.
I never liked crossbreed. That being said, I think I picked up their worst holster a few years ago. I find the leather panel to rub against me worst than a cheap kydex holster. That being said I know a lot of people love them.
I have one of their reckoning holsters for my shield 45, I used to use that holster at 4 o’clock. A mini tuck would have probably been better but I liked the reckoning had a way to adjust retention with a screw driver. Ironically that’s what I hate most about that holster. Leather that breaks in and retention screws are a bad combo imo. I could get the holster adjusted how I liked, loctite it and still have variables get in the way. Smaller leather piece wasn’t comfortable for me either.
My preference now is kydex. I like the audible click, simple and easy to click on.
BUT like you said, it’s really all preferences. I’ve got a pile of holsters I don’t use
Couple other changes I made, I switched to a leather KORE belt (I’ve been running the more rigid KORE nylon one for years). and bought a masterminds tactics pillow.
