Or I think it’s I feel you nowadays
Ok Will Do
I remember taking my Constitution test. We had to write the Pre-Amble, and answer 100 questions. Who is you state Rep? I’m downstate, so I have Severin, and my Rep to Congress is Mike Bost. Both of which are 2A supporters.
Amy Grant district 42
US House Sean Kasten. (D) IL42
But I don’t think there’s any sane politicians of any political persuasion anywhere. I really think that they’re Mutually Exclusive
My former state representative Jeanne Ives is wonderful, she’s a veteran graduate of the US Military Academy she resigned to run against Bruce Rauner, former Governor, lost to the Illinois Republican Machine now we’re stuck with JB Pritzker and now Jeanne Ives is running for US House of Representives.
I’m familiar with Mrs Ives. I voted for her in the primary against Rauner.
Agreed we have more restrictions on a woman’s privates than on the purchase of a pistol in
Not even sure where you’re going with this and why you’re calling me “An NRA Whore” ?? I’m really miffed @steven8
And I’m about as far from “liberal” as East is to West
Might I suggest @steven8, you tone it down a bit. We can disagree respectfully.
@Steven8, the wording of your post loses any point you’re trying to make.
Please reword your comment to be respectful. I’m not asking you to agree. I’m asking you to be respectful when stating your views.
I’ve long thought Gun Safety should be taught in schools. I can only imagine the horror and rage this would induce in certain types of people I’ve come across, but this would be beneficial.
For one thing, if they start early enough, we could instill in the children not to touch that gun that is just sitting there. I remember firemen coming to my school teaching us not to touch fallen electrical outlets. They had some very effective visual aids, much like the coke can I was taught about exit wounds with.
I do seriously doubt the current political climate would allow for this, but I do believe it would be the best.
When I was in high school they began to institute a “Life skills” class. It dealt with common situations which weren’t directly covered in other classes. Things like balancing a checkbook, understanding savings accounts and loans, leasing an apartment, even learning the difference between price and value. I could see basic gun safety being incorporated into a class like that.
I didn’t call anyone an NRA whore it is the way America feels about people who refuse to do anything about keeping weapons out of the hands of the nuts.
Keep in mind that the NRA is changed from supporting back ground ckecks to making it a battle line
@steven8. Well Steven let me assure you I take gun safety more seriously than shooting a firearm. I a Vietnam Vet did two tours as a platoon leader in an air cavalry unit. Spent many days taking incoming fire. Been shot twice in my life so I know how bad it can get. I live in the Chicago suburbs and was shot the second time by the Latin Kings street gang in Chicago. I have spent nearly my entire life as a gun owner. Had my first rifle at 12 years old of course it was in my fathers name, even as a Army lieutenant I was under the legal age in Illinois at 20 years old to own a gun. Now as a gun owner I have my Illinois FOID card and my Concealed Carry License for Illinois. Furthermore; as an Illinois Gun owner and concealed carrier I receive 720 Background checks each year. 360 checks as a FOID Card holder which is every night of the year minus major holidays and as a Illinois Concealed Carry license holder I receive 360 Background checks each year minus major holidays so at 720 background checks each year at what point do you feel a person such as myself can/should say NO, No more? Steven
Never
I get checked every time I add a new weapon to my collection. And twice a year to renew my ccw and for the doj cert.
I want the training and confirmation of my ability and competentcy
Well I disagree there’s to much Federal government intrusion as it is, then when you pig-pile the State, and in the case of Chicago, Cook County on top of that I feel there is to much Government involvement, intrusion in my life but a person such as yourself doesn’t seem to mind the government in your space like you are writing about.
There’s zero statistical evidence to show that waiting periods reduce crimes committed with guns.
We have a right to keep and bear arms, it’s not a privilege to be heavily restricted and regulated by the state.
We would never tolerate the same level of restrictions placed on our other rights guaranteed by the BOR.
No we don’t. There’s no background check and no ID requirement for an abortion and every abortion kills at least one innocent living human being.
