The extractor on my shotgun is wonky and needs to be repaired. My search for a local Smith hasn’t inspired much confidence so far.
They all moved to here in Mississippi. Move here yourself and I can introduce you to at least 3 very excellent gunsmiths! ![]()
The closest shop I could find with a solid reputation for working on old Beretta shotguns is Cole’s Fine Guns in San Antonio TX so I set the ball rolling. Apparently shipping a firearm from and to CA for smithing is a PITA.
It’s either UPS or the highway, and I don’t have the time to drive to San Antonio.
I’ve personally witnessed UPS dumping hundreds of packages into a roll off dumpster because of minor water damage related to a fire…..
From that dumpster I pulled over a dozen firearms which were turned over security….
I also found an invoice that said I missed at least a dozen other guns buried in the container…..
Just an FYI and buyer beware!
99% likelihood that there won’t be any issues, if it’s a valuable gun, I’d plan a road trip.
That said, I just got the tracking number for my Barrett suppressor,… and it’s coming from Fl to Co via UPS! ![]()
Maybe it’s best to wait for a spring break road trip!

Like I said, 99% likely there won’t be a problem!
I’ve been there for 24 years, our building moves well over a million packages per day,…
I’ve seen some crazy stuff!
1000% ship in a LOCKED pelican case, and pad the shiznit out of it and put it in an overpack cardboard box to disguise it as anything other than a gun!
Trust me, the people inside the facilities can recognize a gun package!
Has anyone used the gunsmithing services offered by Sportsman’s Warehouse?
I was told their gunsmith shop is in Utah.
Bolsa in Westminster is an authorized Beretta shop and an easy drive for me.
Sounds like a better plan ![]()
My website at www.gunsmithusa.com lists 8 qualified gunsmiths in CA. One of them may be near you.
