Now we can play the production/price control game…

At least until the dumbocrats get back in the big house and subjugate us to the Middle East in the name of globalization and trade “equity”

So I still have to ask, if this remains true despite the conflict, why are gas prices still so high?

Because we’re selling oil to the world that is bidding up the price. As a global commodity, our prices at the pump are heavily influenced by what buyers around the world are willing to pay for crude oil. WE, the US, has tons of the stuff, but the Chinese et.al. are panicking and forcing the global price of crude up. It’s great news for our domestic producers, but you and I pay the price. Not as bad as the Chinese are paying to import it, but it still costs US consumers more.

They could lower the price of gas in the USA. But, they’d rather use the global market price and make more $.

Yes, the oil companies that we subsidize with your tax dollars are making you pay them more at the pump so they can increase their record profits at home and abroad. This is a big win for “THEM,” not us.
Most of you would not give a dollar to help another person but seem happy to support these companies making record profits. Please stop and take time for some introspection. This is really a misguided and rediculous attitude. If you really care about how your tax dollars are spent, this should be an issue.

Recent estimates show the U.S. government provides approximately $35 billion annually in direct handouts to the fossil fuel industry, a figure that has more than doubled since 2017.

How much did they/we give back in all of those Taxes we pay at the pump? Billions I’ll bet.

The price of oil and gas has only started to rise. It will go higher. But Trump just announved a Iran deal for the 39th time, so fingers crossed this time he’s not lying.

And yes, can subsidize oil and gas production, and coal, but we can’t subsidise solar, wind or nuclear? Gee, I wonder who is paying the govt officials to set those rules? Would be really nice if we had all those offshore wind and those solar farms built that Trump cancelled.

I dunno, a short inquiry in Copilot makes it look like we are pissing away as much money on “Renewables” as we are everything else.

Federal spending on renewable energy subsidies (FY 2016–2022):

  • Renewables received 46% of all federal energy subsidies during this period.

  • Federal support for renewables rose from $7.4 billion in FY 2016 to $15.6 billion in FY 2022 — more than doubling.

Solar $31Billion

Wind $26 Billion

Biomass $12 Billion

The EIA has not released a subsidy report covering FY 2023, FY 2024, or FY 2025.
The most recent official data ends at FY 2022.

But we can say with confidence:

  • Solar subsidies increased sharply after 2022 due to the restored 30% ITC + new bonuses.

  • Wind subsidies increased due to the extended PTC.

  • Biofuels/biomass subsidies increased modestly, but far less than wind/solar.

  • Battery storage became newly eligible for major tax credits (first time ever).

  • Manufacturing subsidies exploded, especially for solar panels, batteries, and critical minerals.

Do you get oil royalties? Because the US selling more oil to the rest of the world only helps the US oil companies, it does not lower the price of gas. Oil is a global commodity so this does nothing for you or I at the gas pump. We could easily become the worlds top cotton exporter if we just bombed all if China’s cotton fields. Won’t lower the price of your tee-shirt. But you could get all excited over the headline that the US becomes world’s top cotton exporter.

I am not crying about gas prices, the Left is. I can afford to fill my vehicles with fuel. I don’t even look at the cost, just part of living. It has come down in recent days, too, but it is not a cost that impacts my life in any meaningful way. My next two trips this year will cost over $25,000, and my last trip, just airfare alone was $1,200, so $4 per gallon gas is especially irrelevant.

Screams “elitist” and “a shiat conservative doesn’t care about the cost of everyday basic necessities.”
Nice humble brag though. It does suit your demeanor, though, not caring about anyone else other than yourself and your own needs.
There are people out there that are being impacted who work harder than you by the price at the pump, trying to get to their second job to make ends meet.

I have done that, working jobs others did not want to, and worked a lot of overtime others did not want to. One does not earn wealth working a wage job. It requires investing hard-earned money wisely and living thriftily. That enabled me to retire at 60 and enjoy more time to travel. That was my goal and I was fortunate enough to reach it and in good health.

I’m not an elitist, I treat everyone the same. I just get tired of the leftists crying about “the rich”, when it is obtainable by most of us just by working hard and investing wisely. I am proof of that. You like to state how stupid I am, but I am not the one sitting in the basement crying about “rich” people. I am the one sitting on the Caribbean beach, or wherever else I decide to go, enjoying my life.

I’m not sitting on a Caribbean beach! But at least I’m an elitist capable of not being bothered by buying fuel!

Even fueling my RV (7mpg) only stings because the tank is soo small and I have to stop so often!!! It’s a Toyota, and they didn’t have room for a bigger tank when they built the RV conversion…..

Ohh, and the fact that I even have an RV parked next to MY HOUSE must make me one of those top one percent people?

Who knew all you need to do is work hard and apply yourself for several decades continuously and you too can be an elitiest! :+1::clinking_beer_mugs::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

LOL, please, rich people don’t park a trailer at their house; trailer trash does. Rich people have jets and stay at some of my favorite hotels. Not ride around the country like a bunch of hippies in an oversized van trailer thing.

So what is it?

Are we elitist because we can afford to fill our gas tanks?

Or are we aimless hippies?

Elitist hippie?

How about we just agree on douchebags? Those who don’t care because they spend 25k or more on trips, so gas isn’t an issue. humble, such a humblebrag. To be honest, I am glad your tax dollars are going to prop up the oil companies that make billions; you deserve to have your money wasted. Since you don’t care about the cost of things and what other people who work harder than you go through.

There you go again whining like a petulant child who didn’t get his allowance for the week.

Ohhh boo hoo, people have to work multiple jobs to afford gas.

Yo dipstick, I was one of those people for a long time! Full time as a janitor, then forklift operator at a nuclear facility, also part time at UPS for insurance,… then worked at 7-11 on graveyards when I left the forklift job because of discrimination, then when 7-11 took away the shift differential I left there and worked welding truck accessories together. All the time keeping my part time job at UPS and helping my buddy with a carpet cleaning business on the weekends….

Three jobs at once to try and make ends meet!

I busted my ass at ups for 25 years now to get into a good position and a comfortable career with excellent pay.

But boo hoo other people have to work multiple jobs while I make enough money to fill my tank from just one job now!

Not everyone gets to grow up on a farm with a silver spoon in their mouth.

Wow, you really know as much about farming as you do life. You are more dense than osmium.
What is truly astonishing is that with all the bad choices you have made in life, it still (if true) worked out for you. This begs the question: if this did happen to you, why are you such a dick and care only about yourself and your needs? Going through this, a normal person would have a little empathy for others. But not you two. It’s too bad if those around you suffer as long as you got what you needed. Kind of pathetic.

Wow, this really speaks volumes about just who you are. What a DICK.

:joy: nobody had empathy for me when I was homeless, or working 3 jobs. So I at least know what it’s like, however, the vast majority of the folks I’m seeing complaining about this kind of :poop: (yourself included) are doing so on multi thousand dollar devices.

Seriously, homeless lady waddled across the intersection in front of my truck today with her nose planted in her phone, so cracked out she seemed oblivious to the fact she was walking in traffic!

Just how much empathy or even sympathy should I feel for her? Should I have invited her to my home and offered to let her use my office as a bedroom and to apply for work? Just given her my debit card and said have a good day?

I don’t know why she’s in that situation, but I do know that I’ve busted my ass for what I have, and I’m not about to simply give it away or allow it to be stolen.

You seem to want to live by communist ideals, and you seem to like lifting images from Russian websites, you can keep that :poop: in mother Russia for all i care.

Yes it does, I’m a real human being who has worked for the life I have, and I’m not a socialist or communist who believes in redistribution of wealth.

And all that has nothing to do with paying $3.49 a gallon for gasoline this morning!:rofl::rofl:
