What would you do if a woman pulled up to a few feet away and offered you money while you were putting your kids in the car, go to her to take the money and someone else comes and takes your kids. Do you shoot in self defence or call the police and maybe chase after them?
Welcome to the community get your kids to safety and call the police.

Do not go to her to take the money. Nobody should ever do that.

“comes and takes my kids” is most likely a hell of a lot easier said than done.

Lethal force is for imminent threat of serious bodily harm or death. Individual states/jurisdictions have different laws but that’s the generality of it and despite not being a lawyer I’m confident in saying that lethal force is likely to be justified in a child kidnapping attempt situation anywhere in the USA, though you should still “check your local listings” and take all reasonably measures you can to avoid being in this situation to begin with (see #1)
The whole situation of someone coming up to you in the parking lot should be setting off flags and alarm bells and “condition orange” on the cooper scale, them then offering you money should basically put you into condition red of reasonably believing something bad is imminently intended, get you and yours out of there.
If not already I highly suggest becoming a US Concealed Carry Association member and working through the training and education in the Protector Academy on their website
A more personal and less formal answer, as a father, who has been approached by people in a parking lot in a very weird way in the past while putting kids into child seats in the back, and this kind of goes without saying it’s just a general human assumption, but, if you try to kidnap my kids in front of me, you better be ready to put me down first. That’s not bravado, if anything it’s actually selfish, but, I think all reasonable human beings understand this concept inherently. Because virtually every parent is willing to kill or die as needed in that situation with 0 hesitation whatsoever. Going after someones kids in front of them is perhaps on the most dangerous actions a person could possibly take
“I don’t know you” while monitoring and walking away seems how we have to deal with most people these days. Thanks for that, dems.
Thanks! I am a member and this wasn’t me, but it was a real situation of a woman putting her kids in the car. She didn’t take the money and she got in her car and locked the doors. But I just wanted to hear other people’s thoughts. I see kidnapping happens way too often, especially when our borders were open. I would check the laws, but in any scenario where a kidnapping might happen, I think a person would be justified in using lethal force
I would absolutely call 911 as soon as it was safe to do so and give them a description of the person
You’ve never read Hanzel and Grettle?
Shoot? Probably too soon. At the very least, draw your gun to stop the kidnapping.
Then, call the police when it’s safe —perps ran away, or they fought and you stopped the kidnapping threat.
Looks like Utah law is pretty clear when it comes to kidnapping…
76-2-402. Force in defense of person – Forcible felony defined.

(2)

(b) An individual is justified in using force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury only if the individual reasonably believes that force is necessary to prevent death or serious bodily injury to the individual or another individual as a result of imminent use of unlawful force, or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.
First, I don’t take money from random strangers. This would be like jumping into a van because someone has candy. Second, if someone took my car with my kids in it I would have to call the police because why would I shoot at my children who are in the car being driven off.
Welcome to the USCCA family; glad to have you here!
There are just some photos that should never be posted and this is one of them. If those are your daughters I am sure this is not how they will ever want to be memorialized for the rest of their lives. Take it down, do those girls a favor, they did not get a choice in this nonsense.
As long as you’re sure, lol
We don’t get a choice with your nonsense either…but here we are. Special of the day. All things being equal, I’d rather a short stack of pancakes.
All have good trigger control. I like that.
Who’s version?
Automatic reply is “get lost” while immediately looking around and unmasking your piece and be prepared to get some.
