Just approved for my CCW Permit!

I filed for my AZ CCW permit back in early June.
Today I found out that I was approved and they will be printing the card tomorrow.
I’ll probably see it in my mailbox next week.
I’m surprised at how excited I am about getting it.

Welcome to our world and congratulations on taking the steps necessary to keep you and your loved ones protected in these trying times. It’s a huge responsibility excersizing your 2A rights but absolutely necessary in these days and times.

Good on You. Now study the laws and train train train.
I remember waiting for mine, I’d check the mail box everyday. In line with typical government procedures, I got mine on the 59th day of the 60 days allowed to issue a permit or deny the application.

I plan on carrying around the 3 O’clock. Seems to work best for me.
Vedder holsters all the way.

Hard to go wrong with Sig or Glock. Congrats on the permit! I prefer leather for concealed carry, but kydex works for a lot of people.

Well you are not alone. The Illinois State Police Firearms Services Bureau website has been flooded in the past few months with Illinois Concealed Carry renewal applications. And unfortunately because of this, and the fact that their processing office is extremely limited in staffing, ALL applications are being delayed. Many renewals are taking months to process, and you cannot apply until 90 days before expiration for a concealed carry card, or 60 days before expiration for a FOID card; so there are many thousands of “under review” expired licenses. Can you carry?

Here is the text of the law:

(430 ILCS 66/70)
Sec. 70. (c) A license is invalid upon expiration of the license, unless the licensee has submitted an application to renew the license, and the applicant is otherwise eligible to possess a license under this Act.

So under the law, if you are eligible to hold a license and have submitted your renewal application successfully, your license IS VALID .

Congrats on the new license! The great news is that in AZ you don’t have to wait for it to arrive in order to carry. Though as others have said - proper training, practice and study of the laws are as important (I would say more important) than simply having the firearm.

Grats. I didn’t realize it was that long of a wait in AZ. That wait would be rough. Although I don’t live in a permit-less state, I got my WI and MN in the mail within 1 week of applying for each.
