That’s actually a really good question. Me, if I’m that close, depending on a billion different things like what They Have How many of Them… would ‘probably’ go hand to hand. But that’s my thing, hand to hand. If you’re practiced and comfortable with edged weapons then certainly the natural first reaction would be that. If there are physical limitation or such then maybe an EDC is the right choice. The Point is SURVIVE!!

Has anyone seen that video of the cop approaching a suspect at night in a parking lot. The suspect waits for the cop to get near. At the distance of a few feet, the suspect pulls out a very large knife. It happens in a flash. The cop having no time to pull his firearm attempts to flee and put distance, but the suspect is able to reach and slash at the cop. The cop is killed. A resident or other person sees what happens and is armed, kills the suspect but too late for the cop. That video is horrible and haunts me to this day.
The point is, no matter how well trained or “eyes on a swivel’, there’s just going to be some situations that happen too fast and too furious. We need to be prepared obviously and I think everyone here does that to the best of our abilities. We just hope it’s enough when the SHTF.

Iirc he was responding solo to a repeat offender trespasser, perp had never been an issue so nobody thought backup was needed.

Yes Sir. Saw that vid. I’m also amazed such vivid detail was posted, but important lessons for us all. I remember it as having happened in broad daylight though, no difference though. I think they said the good samaritan was a veteran.
Good reminder as well on situational awareness, and preparedness. As that was an officer who receives training. It’s so easy for me to get too comfortable or complacent and leave my non lethal EDC in my carry sack or at home.
Perhaps not all that different from wearing a bicycle helmet, seat belts, or having insurance.

Burdo it would be like trying to leave my Home with.out..the keys to my vehicle . It’s not happen. Nothing like not wearing a bicycle helmet or Leaving it at home sir seriously brother sir don’t eat to many gummy’ Bears . For get them not your edc seriously Love Bobby Jean and Debbie ann. Ps maybe you an Debbie ann can fight the criminals with her fire extinguisher. lol

When i Leave my home i make sure my EDC’s are ready and my Blades!! I make sure everything is secure!! And in place!! So if I have to Defend my self I can and will no second guessing no Doubt. If I have time I go through the motions! of my routine. Of self Defense!! Stay sharp.

Richard814 That’s The Reason I Carry my . Kabar ,7” USMC fighting knives. Sir I have Trained with them . 40. Plus years. Sir up close a knife does not take any for thought to Leave a Quick Draw Holster. !! Buy the time it takes me to get my EDC . Out a criminal with a knife would have already ended me. We must use all our tools!! Every day carry can be pepper spray tazer what ever you need. Sir Some times Distance!! Is not enough . We must stand our ground . Don’t Back Up .
