I think that might not have been the right approach.
The person you spoke to almost certainly was not the owner of the store and had no power to do much with your complaint. The person behind the counter probably did not call corporate to mention your position to them. She might bring it up after work, or mention it to here supervisor. Or not.
Maybe sending an email to the company’s corporate office would have more of an effect? Also encourage others to do the same.
Um, ok. I was polite and do intend on following up with the manager. Even if the person I briefly spoke with can’t change the policy, doesn’t mean engaging in conversation and possibly educating someone is wrong. They might converse with others, they might even change how they choose to vote. I think those things are as or more important that getting a sign taken down.

Yes, @Cpgumby, you are right in your position. Believing your voice doesn’t matter is a personal issue. If we don’t speak out, nothing changes. When we do, things can change. I have spoken out, too, and have seen things changed. If it doesn’t, they will at least know that at least one person isn’t there making purchases - likely far more than one person - something that a retailer, etc., seeking our money needs to understand and consider.

Thanks, I am a ‘boot’! Lots to learn. Did you see the recent vid (I think it was in Illinois) where a tv ‘reporter’ couldn’t understand why someone robbed and shot up a business because they had a GFZ sign. Then she actually took out a tape measure and concluded the reason for the violence was because the sign was an inch smaller than required! Sheer lunacy!

I wonder are they so slow in the head that they actually think their sign will stop criminals? These gun bans are mind boggling. As if the criminals will get to the door and say, Oh rats! No guns allowed in here fellas, we have to find someplace else to rob that allows guns. Like does the average citizen really think blanket restrictions are going to protect them and that criminals won’t have access to guns because of those restrictions? It’s like an oxymoron and the restrictions are the oxy and those who think those restrictions will help them are the morons.

Gun free zones signs should be large and made out of steel plate, at least the sign could offer some protection since there is no good guy with a gun to provide the protection in these locations!

Thanks for sharing about the law proposals. Something we should all be conscious of in our own various state of residence.
I’m sure it’s a complex layered topic. I was wondering who decides whether or not they want to put up a prohibited sign on a business. I imagine it’s the owner. Thus he/she I’d also want to communicate with, then figure out if or how I want to communicate, so that I come off calm and rational.
Like you pointed out, speaking to their sense of income, as a paying customer.
I guess, going into it knowing that they very well might be so against firearms and not realize the sign does not lower a robbery or incident occurring there.
Unfortunately, they might not see “responsible owners/carriers” as a large enough of their market. But then again, if we show them the numbers, might they realize it affects their bottom line.
If a business owner was more pro 2A, then it makes sense they are not putting up prohibited signs.
I wonder if hard core anti 2A persons who own a business might be hard to reach through.
To your point, if a state is trying to pass a law to make all businesses to be automatically “prohibited”, that does concern me as well. I can imagine that would take many of us reaching out to law makers and businesses, on both the benefits of allowing us to carry in stores, to increase their sales, but also on the subject of carrying rights being a “civil” right per se.
