As I stated in my OP, this was a national branded chain eyeglass store. I am sure even if I get to talk to a “manager” (now I sound like a Karen!), they will just “be doing what corporate tells them to”. I will follow up with them and provide the two excellent resources others have posted here. To be continued!

I live in Florida. Where I live is some what rural area. We had a new business open It was a restraint, locally owned. They didn’t last a year. They had signs posted no guns to include concealed. As they had very little business. I stopped in one day on my way to work as I put in a order to go. The owners and couple staff were talking about what to do as it was lunch time they were nearly empty but the other places were packed.
I asked you trying to get more business? The owner said we advertised, flyers and they only get a few people here and there and the other place down the street is packed and has line waiting. We can’t figure it out.
I asked them were they were from. They said California. I smiled and that the issue. Yo came to the state and the one county that has the largest gun owners and the head Sherriff backs gun owners and supports self defense. Your trying to use California logic in one of the most concretive and gun friendly state and county. That other place has signs all welcome. Also if you show your concealed license you get a discount and you get entered in to a monthly drawing for a gift certificate to a local gun store.
So remove that sign and put one that says all are welcome, you may get more business. You didn’t do your home work to see what the demographics were in this area and county.
Three guys 2 yrs ago tried to rob the place and the people. Lets just say it didn’t end well for them.
All 32 people to include the employees pulled there guns on the robbers. They were shocked. They were from NY and thought this would be easy hit and found out They don’t have the same rights to commit crimes in Florida and be able to get away with it like in NY. They told the Deputies they had to be let go because they were NY citizens and have NY rights. The deputies said well That don’t mean jack, Your in FL and we don’t play those games.
So I told them as long as you have that sign up, your not going to get many customers and I won’t be back myself because I am not going to be in a place that I can’t protect myself if something happens. And no one around here will do the same. They just said our business our rights to not have guns and don’t believe in people should be allowed to own them much less carry them, I said you won’t last long in this town, county.
Shure enough with in 2-3 months after that conversation, they closed up and the owners and the few staff took jobs working at several chain and one local place. But they found out those places had no (No guns) signs posted. When I seen the owner as our waiter one night. I asked how he was doing. He said he was not to keen on working at this place with knowing he is working with possibly violent guest because he doesn’t know who has guns and several staff has guns. I tried to get the manager to ban guns on staff and guest to make it a safe work place like in California. He said the manager just laughed at me. I said well once the new management took over this place, and he removed the signs no one has tired to rob the place in 5 years. Real threat criminals are not going to go in to a place with a lot of people not knowing if people are carrying or not.
They going to hit places that have signs, gun free zone, no fire arms allowed, no conceled carry. They going to hit soft targets because they don’t want to get hurt or killed. But a place like this with about 150 people and no signs, a criminal is not going to risk getting confronted.
So you really need to change your mind set and was all that brain washed crap off that everyone who owns and want’s to carry are gun toting nut cases. Do you see any one acting stupid or being out of control about their guns? Nope they are out with their families and friends having a nice dinner and good time. We not the nut cases, we are people who believe in the 2nd and the right to protect our rights, family, businesses and community.
Go down to the jail and talk to the criminals there and aske them about this county and the police and the sheriff here. Every one of them will tell you they tell there criminal friends to stay out of the small towns and this county., it won’t end well for them.
This guy just still stuck to his California brain washing that people should not be allowed to carry in to businesses. He tried to run as a city council member and lost big time because he ran on the anti-gun agenda and guns don’t belong out side the home and he would pass an ordnance that make it a crime to carry guns in to businesses and businesses would have to post signs. He only got 20 votes. He and his family just would not learn their beliefs don’t work in central Florida. They are still hell bent on trying promote that California Liberal ant-gun crap.
- Lost a business
- Had a gun owning Manager laugh at him
- He lost and election in a local race.
Some people will never learn or change.

Two points:
- Do you realize the individuals who post signs such as the one you mentioned are as committed anti-gun as your or I are pro-Constitution?
For me, I ignore them as my time left on the planet is far more valuable to me than attempting to change the POV of the people who are against me. I live by a Mark Twain proverb, paraphrasing: Don’t argue with an idiot, onlookers may not be able to distinguish between the two of you.

The benefit is the company will not have to face a wrongful death suit should someone in that store defend themself and kill a criminal in the process.
