I went to Sonic Temple a concert in Columbus Ohio for four days.It was a blast but as soon as we got there I told my stepson here is how you know you are old. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts when I was young but it’s been twenty years since the last one. I’ve never seen the shall we say individuality of kids now a days. The first day I was paranoid as hell, after that I slowly relaxed. This was the longest time
I’ve been unarmed since I started carrying.
I hope you had a great time at the concert and it was everything you hoped it would be.
To me that looks like one of the rings of Hell. A crowded one at that.
I think they said the attendance was over 140 thousand for all 4 days. I’ve never seen so many women dressed like hookers in my life.
“Party on Garth”.
Sounds like you had an unexpected trip to heaven! 72,000 virgins!
I know I’m old when I’m scared to death to be in a crowd that large!
However, I did make the request of my grandsons, that if they ever go to a “Tomorrowland” or “Mysteryland” concert/event, ( or I’m on my last leg ) they are not to leave without me.
It’s completely possible they will have to leave me there!
I’m not dying in a bed while Helga is looking over me with a wet rag!
WOW, come to think of it my last concert was 1983 U2 at Red Rocks.
Under a cold gray wet sky!
Uh,I do not believe they were virgins.
I come from a generation that believes in “trust but verify”
Were you at least able to bring and leave it securely in the car?
I’m not in any way against big crowds gathered for music or sports.
My daughter who’s been to Coachella encourages me to go to Sacramento’s AfterShock festival.
However, as I get older, my rock music preference has turned from hard to soft. (Hello, Air Supply!)
Uh. Well, I know I’m old for sure, because that looks absolutely awful. No thanks. How could I get to the bathroom when needed? lol
George Straight … I might put up with that concert crowd, but I need space around me, to run if needed.
Yes I took one on the trip…but not having it on me in that sea of I guess mostly humans was unsettling. I got over it after not seeing one fight the whole time. I went to a HWJ country show years ago and half the crowd was fighting.
The last concert for me was David Allan Coe 1996 and Charlie Daniels same year.
1978 - Rush and Cheap trick at the Seattle dome!
I just feel old!
'OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You DID NOT just say ‘AIR SUPPLY’?
‘I’m all outta love Bean, I’m lost without you!’ Where’s my Black Sabbath 8 track?
I AM IRONMAN! Muahahahaha!
Now, I have that syrupy song in my head! Where’s my DIO CD?
When my son died 2 years ago, I checked his mailbox at his Cinncinnati apartment and there was a pair of tickets/parking for the whole Sonic Temple festival. I contemplated going for about 5 seconds, realized I wasn’t in the mood to put it mildly, and gave them to the apartment manager to give away as his crew and neighbors had treated me with a lot of compassion that week. My son and I had been to a lot of shows, he played a few festivals in fact. Our last show together was a Primus New Years gig in San Francisco. These days it’s YouTube, and looking at that crowd, yup, that’ll do.
Yep…NOPE!
Hope you enjoyed it Trever1.
At sixty the Acid Bath mosh pit was awesome, but may be the last one like that…it was a blast.
Last one I experienced was mid 90’s. Smaller arena type venue on a college campus. Sepultura opening for OZZY. A good time was had by all and OZZY was keeping most of the crowd cooled down by way of a water cannon! Helluva showman!
Last time I had a good time in San Francisco, it was 2016 and it was like working swing shift.
People warmed up at 3pm with Tower of Power
then the Doobie Brothers,
Steve Miller Band
Santana
and Journey ended at 11pm.
I’m not doing it again.
It started at twelve and ended at 11:30 to 12:00 each night. I’m a metal head from childhood…over 100 bands in 4 days would have been gnarly as hell when I was 25. It was a test at sixty and turns out I’m still home in a mosh pit.
Each night. Yikes.
I was 48 then and could hardly handle 3pm-11pm on a Sunday.
I wasn’t carrying at the time and SF was much safer then, pre-Trump 45.
IIRC that’s the last time I visited that shytehole.
My stepson is constantly testing my endurance either by hiking 30:miles in Michigan or 4 days on my feet.Sometimes running in circles, sometimes bouncing off others. The amount of people I passed over my head (crowd surfing) was on a scale I’ve never seen before. Gwar by the way is still quite the experience. I’ve also found a band I haven’t heard of before but I’m damn glad I did. Power Trip. They opened with a song called Executioner Tax…I’m hooked.
