I did boxing classes for a bit. I guess I’m getting older and got a shoulder injury after a few months. I’ve been tending too it for awhile and hoping surgery won’t be needed downy the road. May never take a class but I’m grateful for what I learned.
I’ve also been getting into cycling. I have a pretty physical job so it’s nice to have a lower impact activity that I genuinely enjoy.
Hiking, occasional biking, camping for both work and play. Yard games, board games and some video games with the family. Would also count my firearms and martial arts training as activities that I do because of the potential real life necessity of having to use those skills one day but that I enjoy as a fun hobby as well.
As the old saying goes: if you find something that you like doing, you’ll never work a day in your life. With that said, I would find something you enjoy doing and that keeps you learning new things.
If you think $$ will be tight as you get older, start doing something now to learn to do it easier as you age and can bring in a few $$. That’s why I want to do market gardening. You can start small to only feed your family or lower the food bill and grow it as you learn. The up side is you know what went into growing your food. I don’t trust grocery stores anymore. My mamaw raised, you can say, two families growing and preserving what she grew.my great mamaw raise a garden until it was physically impossible for her. I hope to follow in their footsteps.
Edit: I’m going to buy a gooseberry plant, only need one, and give making jams and jellies a try.
My wife got me a Fitbit for Christmas. I had a garmim over 5 years ago. I liked it but I was into rock climbing and couldn’t really wear it while I was actually working out. Now that I’m back into cycling I’m excited for it. Plus my work can be fairly physical so I’m curious to track it.

Having said that, I have hobbies that mostly are home-based. I used to play basketball on a daily basis when previous home was in a cul de sac.
I dabble in music (guitar, keyboards).
I’m trying to learn more about Plato, Socrates and Aristotle.
Duuude . I love skateboarding. Im no good. Picked it up for stress management. I stopped right after my first kid was born because I couldn’t afford to break my wrists, but I still get out on my cruiser sometimes. Got a little penny board for when my kids ride their scooters.
I’ve got too many interests. I’m kind of a jack of all trades dude, not a master at anything.
That is basically what I have. One with big wheels (Carver CX)for cruising on streets, sidewalks and parks. A Carver C5 with smaller wheels more for tricks. I go every chance I get.
As the kids are almost grown, I’m still trying to wrap my head around finding things for me, LOL. I do hit the gym 3-4 times a week. I have a lot of hiking trails in my area, so that tops the list as well. And the kids and I always enjoy hitting the local fairs and festivals, classic car shows, etc. My kids all sing quite well and play instruments too. One quite proficiently. They can sing anything from Elvis covers to the Lumineers and much in between. I was a drummer waaaayyyy back when, so I’m trying to talk the kids into putting together a 60’s through 80’s cover band with me but they have visions of the Partridge family and are understandably hesitant.
