My Glocks gather 'round and laugh when I strip my 1911’s.

That was me, Bobbyjean, and I feel your pain.

It is humbling to disassemble your Beloved EDC and then find out when you put it back together you either have parts left over or not enough parts.

I did find the correct part (I hope) at Beretta and it should be in tomorrow, so I can get my Beloved EDC out of the safe and back on my hip where she belongs.

I have been feeling naked without her on my side.

I’ve never done that to any of my firearms. I don’t trust my skills.

After every range day then once a year local gunsmith takes completey apart inspects and cleans everything puts back together

Me too! I DO the cleaning after a Range day (I have no problem with that), and it is Once a year for my guy to strip her, oil her check for wear etc… This is why I do not shoot everything I have. There are no Safe Queens in the group but there is the one shottie, one AR (well maybe 2 or 3) and 2-3 handguns I use all the time. They don’t have the time to clean my entire collection all the time (nor do I have the funds right now)
My ‘Gunsmithing’ is more like Suzi Homemaker cleaning and Oiling—the Pro’s check for wear.

I have a gun bench for just such occasions. I also have a sonic cleaner. I know how to breakdown all of my guns and deep clean them. Good to hear from you Bobbyjean two feathers. I hope you are doing well and PLEASE, Have a ROOTBEER on me.

I believe being able to break them down is a part of knowing your weapon and being comfortable with them.

Bobbyjean, all love, respect and Root Beers to you (even though good Root Beers have gone extinct). I can, and I encourage everyone to learn how to field strip any weapon no matter how mechanically re-clined you are. None of them are that hard. Just Google it, or ask someone (gun store, smith, enthusiast) to show you. Small springs and things are usually when you deep clean only. And, you don’t have to that often at all, unless you’ve encountered harsh conditions.

Also Bobbyjean, I have one, maybe two magazines for your 760. We just have to figure a way to do this privately. Mine shoots 1MOA groups with Remington 180gr. Core-Lokt SP.

I don’t detail strip unless to correct or diagnose a problem. Otherwise if you can’t field strip your piece, buy a Glock. :joy:

@BobbyJean I can take the slide, barrel, spring and grips off of my 9mm and 45 and clean the insides.

Took apart two of my dads old old .38’s. Got one back together. Unable to get the other back together because of the spring being so tight. Will have to take it to gun shop. Both of those were nasty.

Can’t remember if I have ever taken apart my .357 but I don’t think so. No need unless I drop it in dirt I guess.

I wouldn’t even go there with long guns.
