Hunters are pro-2A, they may have a different target than us; I am both, and donât want to lose either my long guns, or hand guns regardless of purpose.
As. a matter of fact my shotgun has been my go to home defense weapon for half a century, before I decided to go CCW.
They are an extension of our community especially for voting purposes.
Embrace them as brothers and sisters all. We can use all the help we can get.
In some blue states that make CCW so restrictive (on premise only, not a true CCW), too few years requiring renewals every 2 to 3 years, and too expensive, so as to be cost prohibitive, many that would get a CCW, just donât and only use their long guns for home defense purposes because itâs required to have a CCW to use a handgun for home defense like in NY.
In TN none of the above applies: they have true CCW for 8-years that are affordable & a Permit-less option not available in NY.
I wonder what the ratio of responsible gun owners to people that donât have guns is in Tennessee versus New York. I would think the ratio is much higher in favor of guns in Tennessee than in New York.
Just looked that up for the state laws on our reciprocity page for NY permits is 1.0% of their population, and for TN itâs 1.7 % of our population, but we now have a Permitless option since, July 1, 2021, that NY does not have.
So, even though NY has a greater population, I think that more in TN actually carry open, and closed.
NY has neither Permitless nor open carry.
TN has Permitless carry that allows open, or concealed, your choice, you could flip flop anytime.
There are no numbers available for how many take advantage of the Permitless option, but casual observation of those that open carry is a substantial number do.
I am not political and I want to encourage more people to carry guns responsibly. Hindsight tells me that it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun. I never had a gun until my father-in-law gave me a Remington 30-06 as a weeding present. It changed my life and the way I think about guns and the way I think about life with guns in it. I think so many lives could have been save if there was a responsible person with a gun there to stop a murder. I think about Oct 7, school shootings, any time there is a murder, if there were more responsibly arm there less people would have gotten murdered. Am I wrong for thinking that. I donât need someone to blame. I need people to be responsibly armed. I think the #1 reason people are murdered is because there wasnât someone or enough people responsibly arm there. What could be more important that people donât want to think about it? Well that is my rant.
You are not wrong for thinking what you are saying because responsible, reasonable, sensible, sane people like many of us, as well as you, across the Country think the very same thing, because itâs our natural human instinct to want to protect and physically act to stop criminal threats if we are at the right place, at the right time to save lives, but itâs government laws and regulations that ties law-abiding citizensâ hands behind their backs if laws and regulations are broken. No firearms within 1000 yards of schools, federal buildings etcâŠ, but that doesnât stop those that have no respect for laws, nor life. There are many responsible armed law-abiding gun owners, but itâs just that laws are too restrictive, and LEO canât be everywhere neither, which makes open opportunities very vulnerable for crime. There are solutions, but no one (government) initiates to take action so as to not offend someoneâs (criminal) Constitutional Rights, and not to protect the innocent.

No fear at all. I donât buy into anyone elseâs delusions or paranoia. The second amendment is pretty clear and unless they call a constitutional convention and convince a compelling number of delegates to amend the 2nd I wouldnât worry too much.
I have been shooting 61 years now. I have a walk in gun safe. And it is full. I avoid political discussions as a rule. But I donât think my guns will be confiscated in any way. At best they may try for a ban on high capacity magazines. I already have more than enough for every firearm I own.
Taking our guns would be an impossible task, three hundred million plus guns? Impossible ! Finding enough people to do it.? Impossible! Just couldnât happen and thatâs what 6 and 8â joints of PVC pipe and end caps are for. And if your state has gun registration and they ask you â where is this one and that one and wa wa waaâ Just tell them I traded them for drugs lol!
