i just watched a video from uscca about carry guns. This might have been asked before. How many different conceal carry guns does a person need?
So, typical starting disclaimerā¦itās not about āneedā, etc.
But, if the question is otherwise stated as, āwhat is a good number of carry guns, in your opinion, for one person to have to reasonably cover all basesāā¦
Iām going to sayā¦it depends.
Minimum two, IMO. Iād like people to have a minimum of two, both highly concealable yet still effective, because everything man made can and, given enough opportunity, will eventually fail/break/etc.
If a random person I knew nothing about at all asked me this, I would say to pick a S&W Shield Plus, or a Sig P365, Glock 43, or a Springfield Hellcat, or something similar, and buy two of them. Also two holsters (okay you probably buy 2-3 holsters before finding one you want to buy a second of). And spare mags. And put good sights (or a red dot even) on both of them. And then train with them. You may also maybe upsize to a G43X here.
Going up from there, Iād next say 4. Two of the above, and two compact double stacks. Harder to conceal, but easy enough, especially dressing around it or in cooler weather. Glock 19, S&W M&P 2.0 compact 9mm, FNH 509 Mid, or similar. Maybe a P10C, etc. Same holsters, mags, sights/optics, as above.
Up from there, the sky is the limit. The obvious next step is to go to a full size also. G17, H&K VP9, FN full size, S&W full size, etc. Maybe sig folks go P320 here or with the mid size/compact.
Maybe a double stack sub compact. G26, S&W M2.0 sub compact, FN 509c, etc.
Maybe it should say choice of which one to carry.
X=N+1
Seriously, what Nathan said. I use primarily 2, G19 or a 43, occasionally a 26⦠Have 11 I could carry, but these worked out the best. If Iām not worried on concealment and want a bigger bore (woods walk), Iāll carry a m&p .45C, G21, or 1911.
Iām keeping this simple⦠ONE.
One that you trust.
But what if you trust ALL your guns?
The order is a key⦠First is the ONE⦠then is the TRUST
Easy answer: As many as they want.
Definitely depends. If you have a stable routine and can find one gun that covers it all, then two should do the trick:) Never know when something might happen and you donāt have access to your first choice.
My life has me doing many different activities that require different options from a concealability and carry position perspective. But I have two pistols that cover pretty much everything I need to do and my home defense pistol can also be carried if I feel the need to step up a little bit in capability.
I prefer 2. My EDC. And my woods gun.
Is woods gun a CC gun? But in general, however many styles of wardrobe you got, you need a fitting CC. E.g. cold season vs summer clothes, or office vs gym clothes. Two holsters, one gun may be as good as two diffrent guns.
I have a choice of 6, different calibers, revolvers and semiautos. I like choices.
My answer to this is, most LEOās carry a second weapon and so do every branch of service.
Some similar discussion in the strings which talk about how many rounds, ir how many mags. Guessing most (not all) who CCW, do so with only one firearm. Also carrying a non lethal self defense tool might be an additional question.
Most LEOās also carry body armor, at least 2 spare mags, a tourniquet, pepper spray, taser, baton, handcuffsā¦and off duty, most cops carry between 0 and 1 guns.
Just sayinā
All of them!
I tried just carrying a LEO instead but my G20 was getting in the way of holding his coffeeš
Personally, I keep two carry guns a Glock 30 which I dress to conceal because I prefer a .45 double stack. I have a single stack Glock 43, 9mm for harder to carry situations. I do have a Ruger SR .22 I can tuck almost anywhere, but itās to lite for me to consider for primary carry. I also have the option of carrying my Glock 35 Home\Competition gun but itās much more difficult to conceal and carry. My wife carries a Taurus Gx4 and uses her purse for concealed carry. Iām happy that she is content with it. We both carry pepper spray as well.
You win response of the year! Awesome.
It might be not easy to solve with two unknown variables.
I will go with : X=X+1
