Home made holsters

Try youtube, just enter “how to play” then enter any song that you want to learn, then enter “on guitar”. I’ve played guitar all my life , but this how I learn new songs. The good thing is if you can pause the video, or go back. There are a number of good instructors on youtube. Thrift stores sometimes have beginner instruction books

I bought a Rough Rider a way back for plinking. I sure like the holster at the top. Not sure what thing was that I bought online. But I do know it’s not a very good holster: us: Nice work Eugene

I make my own holsters. I 'm working on a shoulder holster with two magazine holders on the other side… I like to make them and think it fun to do.

Good for you. I’m working on ordering a cheek riser for a hunting rifle, ended up talking on the phone with the craftsman. Very passionate and detail oriented. Lots of new found respect for your work.

How long does it take from concept to finished?

I like the way they did the Kydex on the bottom two. I haven’t seen it done that way before. That probably eases the strain on the Kydex where it’s attached to the leather (compared to half shell method like traditional Crossbread, Galco, etc). I’m going to have to look into that.

Probably 4 to 6 hours depending on how much decoration is added. The stitching is all done by hand so that takes the longest. I work out the shape with a paper pattern before committing to cutting the leather. There is some downtime waiting for the damp leather to dry and any glue used as well.

Pick your mind on internal materials? Pro’s and Con’s?

What do you think about “marine vinyl” over suede? I understand that suede grips better, but can cause discoloration, however that marine vinyl is less corrosive to the firearm?

Sorry, but I’m completely unaware what “marine vinyl” is.
