Hip hip hurray

President Trump was acquitted by the senate , I bring this up because when Trump was in office he was the most pro- gun pro second A, for our rights president that has ever been. By the way he also has a conceal carry permit. Just wanted to sure the good news.

Not sure about that. He wanted and got the bump stock ban and believes in red flag laws. No telling what other “gun control” he’d advocate for if still in office. Oh, that’s right, he was also against removing silencers from the NFA list. I believe I could come up with at least a few more, if I researched it.

I’m sorry but I don’t disagree with that.
The bump stock is uncontrollable.
I don’t think it should be legal.

Now the rest I agree with @Dave17 . Trump wasn’t the best 2A supporting president.

Plus there are plenty of politicians that carry but do not believe citizens should.

I think bump stocks are silly. But by using executive action to direct the ATF to ban them and to do it with no grandfather provision he has opened the door for Biden to gut the 2A through executive action.

Put that along with him having the justice department argue to keep the Supreme Court from hearing the silencer case, his repeated openness to bans on assault weapons and high cap mags, and his failure to pass any pro 2A laws during his first 2 years when the supposedly 2A supporting Republicans controlled the House and Senate and I can easily argue that he did more harm to the 2A in 4 years than Obama did in 8. And that is not counting his current push to further splinter the Republican Party for his own personal gain that will ensure that anti gun democrats control the government for years if not decades to come.

I’ve heard these arguments before. So who would you all consider the most pro-gun 2A President?

Jefferson maybe? Cant think of any Presidents in the past several decades who were truly pro gun if you look past the rhetoric they used to get elected and look into their actual actions throughout their careers before, during and after their presidencies.

“Most pro gun President” and “pro gun President” can mean different things.

If for “most pro gun president” you are willing to accept the least anti gun presidents then I guess you could bring some of the recent Presidents into the discussion.

Most people would point to Ronald Reagan. But he signed laws banning on person carry in National Parks and the ownership of automatic weapons not registered before 1986. He was also an active supporter of the Brady Bill and Assault Weapons/mag capacity Ban after his presidency. Obama put up a lot of big anti gun talk and passed some ineffective executive actions that had little to no affect on gun ownership. The only gun laws he signed that I know of were actually pro gun. Restoring the right to carry guns in National Parks and allowing guns in checked luggage on trains. Sure he would have passed more anti gun laws if he thought he could get away with it so I obviously would not call him a pro gun President. But in terms of actual actions he “Trumps” many of the more recent “pro 2A” offerings. Definitely not saying I am fan of his. Just saying that people need to stop listening to the crap that spews out of these politician’s mouths and start looking at their actions.

You are right about Reagan he did sign that.

So, ok. Trump this or that makes little difference now. The impeachment was a farce from the get go & the clowns that jumped on the bandwagon are just that.

“Take the guns first, then give them due process.” Donald J. Trump

No, he wasn’t the most 2A friendly President. He wasn’t as bad as others, but, he wasn’t the champion others claim him to be. Yes, I voted for him. I think when he was in the wrong, it was at the guidance of people like Wayne LaPierre.

What is your opinion on automatic weapons? You do understand that they are still legal to obtain and own, right? Banning something that was legally purchased goes directly against our Constitution. I do not believe in gutting our Constitution due to fear of some object. Aside from that, the numerous videos of people “bump-firing” firearms without a bump stock shows how stupid the ban is. I have seen videos of bump-firing handguns by pushing the firearm with one hand and with the other hand having a finger in front of the trigger. I guess to quell your fear, the next step is to ban fingers.

Vehicles are not readily controlled, either, based on vehicle crash rates - far more of those than NDs or murders by firearm. If you fear the object, do not use it. I chose not to live in fear.
