Guns in the News: An Uncertain Future for Gun Owners | USCCA

There is little doubt that President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2021. This mean that the legislative and executive branches of our federal government will be in the hands of individuals who aren’t in favor of the Second Amendment.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/blog/guns-in-the-news-an-uncertain-future-for-gun-owners/

I have the same concerns as you, first off Biden is not president elect, the electoral college will decide that, so enough said on that, if in fact that he does become president, legislature and bills have to be passed by the senate and the house by a majority vote, and there are a lot of democrats and republicans who are not anti gun and are pro 2A, so if the president veto’s it, they may override his veto by passing the bill again in each chamber with at least two-thirds of each body voting in favor, if I am not mistaken, so I think that there will be a lot of battles on a lot of 2nd amendment issues in the senate and house. I don’t know and I may be wrong, but we just have to wait and see. I know I’ll get a bunch of flak, and you know what, that’s OK, because we all have different opinions on a lot of issues.

@USCCA
We as a groups tend to talk about the things we do and groups we support to further 2A/constitutional interests quite regularly on this forum.

I would be intrested to have an understanding of specific actions USCCA is taking to help protect their customer base and the symbiotic relationship that we expect.

God I hate political discussions, so I’ll keep this short.
“The Dems will take your guns!” has been the fearmongering rally cry from the right for many long decades now, yet no Democratic President has done any such thing. Please, stop fearmongering about this, it’s unseemly.

Full Disclosure: I’m a Democrat, and strongly support the Second Amendment.

How do you feel about how cozy the party seems to have gotten with communist, socialist, and other forms of revolutionary (i.e. BLM indicating that ‘your’ candidate now ‘owes’ them something for 'their’s vote)?

Not do to their not wanting to; they do not pass the laws, only sign them. The “assault” weapons ban signed by Clinton was the closest we came to what you state has never happened. We did not have confiscation, but many arms were no longer available for sale by FFL dealers. Also Pelosi publicly stated “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them…Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in. I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.” So, obviously, we have been fortunate enough to have Congress prevent an all out ban. That does not mean that the Democratic politicians don’t want that. Look at the non-sense (gun control laws) in California. That is the work of Democratic politicians.

Thank God the left never resorts to fearmongering. :smirk: To quote the Biden web site, the proposed bans and buybacks are only about ending the “Gun Violence Epidemic”. No fear mongering there! Because the root cause in our most afflicted cities MUST be gun ownership itself, and could not possibly be something else.

"Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."

So IMO they ARE coming for your AR-15, and even that 15 round double-stack mag in your handgun.

Of course the definition of an “assault weapon” has been debated for years. As has the discussion of whether the 2nd Amendment refers to a well armed populace with weapons equivalent to that of the police/military.

Nevertheless, I tend to agree with the statement, “When the government says you can’t have an AR-15, YOU NEED and AR-15.” And also that a solid 2nd Amendment (unlike the creeping erosion of it that is already well established) guarantees that the others (such as the 1st and the 4th) might actually stick around for a while.

Unfortunately I feel it will all soon be lost.

And yet you were silent when 45 said “take the guns now, worry about due process later”.
That about says it all. It’ll be very interesting to see your excuses for this one, although the last time I mentioned it, silence was the only reply.

Are you looking to communicate, or provoke? From a couple of posts above that one and specifically addressed to you.

Interesting. You do exactly what you’re accusing me of doing, whilst ignoring the other posts that are very much intended to provoke. Why am I not surprised?
Either way, I’m done here. It’s just exactly as I expected, to be honest, although I hoped it might be otherwise. Accusations of “my candidate” sucking up to “communists” while Trump sucks up to dictators and gives our secrets to Russia, yet it’s fine if Trump does it - documented, btw, while undocumented BS against Democratic leaders that are actually you know, trying to keep us from dying to Covid-19 - 260,000+ dead Americans at Trump’s door, but that’s just fine, I guess.
To summarize: You folks ignore reality, and spread misinformation, yet accuse me of doing just that. Naw, I’m done. Flame away, because if you won’t bother to face reality, frankly, IDGAF.

You have any links to sources for your documentation? You should have given that to Mueller and saved us $45 million as he found no documentation.

Rick: “The Dems will take your guns!” has been the fearmongering rally cry from the right…"

Beto O’Rourke: ‘Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.’
From the Democratic Party platform: “Democrats will ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines.”

Qualifying your statement with “no Democratic President has ever” is just whitewashing the ugly truth of the Democratic Party.

I WILL NOT COMPLY with any seizures or surrenders! It is non negotiable. When entire cities are burned, communism , socialism, abetting Islamic extremism, murders happening in innocent neighborhoods being done, people attacked / murdered in traffic, children being kidnapped for pedo rings being busted, drug criminals / cartels infiltrating our nation, judges throwing out election fraud affidavits / not enforcing voter protections or election campaigns, crime rates / carjackings at 537% in Minneapolis, Governors mandating lockdowns- businesses being ruined - livelihoods destroyed, attempting a forced vaccine, permitting unlawful illegals to have more rights than U.S. Citizens in this nation in multiple ways, and it goes on & on & on…
Sanctuary cities harboring illegals that kills our people , commits rapes (MS-13 PIECES OF SHIT)… it’s in the news constantly.
I hear a lot of “Pillow Talk” from organizations wanting funding but won’t state where they stand on actually doing something against infringements!
Each day I pray that I will never have to fire a shot ever again like I did in my 2 Decorated Combat Tours, but if I must to protect the Freedoms of the future generations I will.!! I won’t go out looking for it, but I won’t be a sheeple either.
I honestly believe at this point the Dems will do everything they can & SCOTUS has backlogs of cases they haven’t even opened to rule in. Then you have justices like Roberts that sits in a fence!
Don’t let this go unchallenged. Phone calls to any official is unofficial. If you don’t have a position in office they act like they take your info to make you feel appeased about your calling them directly. Desk bots with no intent of really relating anything that isn’t official.
Laws being passed without going to a ballot then the corrupted Dominion fiasco anyways.
People saying it’s over dramatized…riiiiiggghhhhhtttt,
What BS! The issues are actually understated in measures of reality!

The second am. is a constitutional right. Any efforts to abolish it will be struck down by the supreme court. The problem is not at the federal level but the STATE courts that are crossing the line on so many levels. Namely California. The laws that are being passed are just absurd and have absolutely nothing to do with safety or public interest. Thank God that I live in Texas
