I carry the G45 or my Gen4 G26. I have a Hogue grip sleeve on the G45 to give me finger grooves. I also have a sleeve on the G26.

Gen 5 G19. The big appeal of the Gen 5 to me is that it is the first completely left-hand friendly Glock. Not only does it have the reversible magazine release of the Gen 4, but it also has an ambidextrous slide lock/release. This is a big deal to southpaw shooters like myself. As for the cutout on the front of the grip frame, it simply doesn’t bother me. I know it is there, but I just don’t notice it while shooting. I also just shoot the Gen5 G19 lights out!

@Jeffrey - Glad I could help with some Glock Trivia today! I’m waiting for the G20 to get the Gen5 treatment. I love the 10mm round, and the G20 is arguably the best platform for “Best MM” firepower. A more lefty-friendly version of the G20 may cause me to part with more of my money!

I am a lefty as well. I have never had problems with Glocks without ambi stuff. Mag release can be reversed, but never really needed it. That is pretty much it for any type of right hand or left hand stuff on Glocks. My G30s still has the right had mag release, easy to use as a lefty. Just sayin…

@Skullcrusher - I can use them as well. I’m good with using my trigger finger to drop magazines or the slide, as I had no choice when I started shooting. However, once I had a chance to experience true left-hand capability, it was a game changer. There is no reason to go back with so many manufacturers finally making proper ambidextrous controls for their guns.

Nathan, do you know if the Glock 30X has ambidextrous controls?

I might purchase one someday.

@Jeffrey - As far as I know, the Gen5 configuration currently applies to the following models: G17, G19, G19X, G45, G34, and G26.

All the Gen 5’s are currently in 9MM only. More to come I am sure.

I just picked up a Glock 22 RTF, and I absolutely love the grips. And of course the chambering in .40

RTF? What does that stand for?

What caliber is the Glock 43 Gen5?

It stands for Rough Textured Frame. The plastic “dots” on a normal Glock grip are raised slightly on the RTF to allow for a more tactile grip. It bites into your hand just a tad but I like the feeling of having a better hold on the weapon.
