I think this has come up a few times in this forum, BUT is it reasonable to think the grip angle being the same and the trigger being the same the trigger time and target acquisition would translate over to my the 9mm Glock? @Jerzees
@Harvey Taurus makes a good handgun Iāve had a couple years ago, I was just putting out another option of 22lr that works for us. Have a good one.
Hard to tell⦠For me 22LR is almost the same as SIRT or handgun with laser cartridge.
It will never be the same as 9MM, but remember - everything you do with the firearm BEFORE the projectile exits the muzzle is the same. Caliber doesnāt matter - technique remains the same.
To make 22LR handgun as close as possible to 9MM Iām using āhigh velocityā ammo which gives a little bigger kick and sound. But it is still not the same.
I guess my bigger thing is presentation. Iād like my presentation and point of aim to remain the same. If I get a 22lr Iām going to shoot it a lot, so Iād like to not have conflicting points of aim if that makes sense. The trigger pull being the same is cool too.
The 1911, for example, doesnāt bother me. If I shoot 50 rounds I donāt expect the 1911 to mess up my Glock training. But if I shoot a 22lr, Iām going to shoot it a lot.
I like the idea of the mags being the same size on the 44 as well.
BUT maybe Iām over thinking it. I mainly want a 22 so I can shoot more for fun.
All 22LR handguns will give you a lot of fun, but because you want to use it as training equivalent to your G19, same platform seems to be the smart buy.

You get one more reason to go with G44 (no more 10rd limitation) ![]()
I did a review a while back on the Glock 44 if it helps in your decision.
I own the Taurus, and find it to eat everything. It is really a great gun, and being full size, helps transition to a full size EDC gun. Not fond of Glocks simply because of the grip angle, and my finger rubs the guard. I feel that if you go Glock, you stay Glock so you donāt need to adjust for the angle differences.
Thatās awesome. I am amazed they were able to get the slide to reciprocate properly with the 22 and a floating barrel. Itās cool it looks like a standard Glock on the slide.
I think Iām going to make some financial moves to get the G44. I think it will open the door for me to get more range time with the same platform which also = more fun.
It can be a training supplement. I can get 50-100 more trigger pulls each range trip without feeling guilty.
Itās funny, I watch a lot of those gun videos, and I wonder how many of them actually clean the darn thing before they shoot it. I know people say āwhen you get it out the box it should work fineā but every Manuel tells you to clean the gun before you use it. I could see a 22lr being extra finicky if the oil it was stored with was extra gunky and the slide needs to reciprocate properly. Iām finding guys with tons of rounds through it and it seems like a really well built little pistol.
Does that mean Ramen Noodles for a month?
Maybe not⦠
