Gilroy Garlic Festival Shooting

The really interesting thing i have noticed over the past few election cycles is that almost every candidate that wants to diminish or deny our second amendment rights are also calling for “social justice” which has the effect of putting more and more criminals back on the streets! They will call for gun confiscation and then, in their next sentence tell us that mandatory minimum sentences are unjust. And out the revolving door goes the street drug dealer who was busted with a gun.

The Mayor of Louisville wants to be exempt from Kentucky’s preemption on gun laws but then forces changes to police department policy which prevent officers from policing proactively.

Don’t worry, when the violent crime rates increase dramatically due to all the felons they are turning loose they’ll use it as another way to promote disarming the public in the name of “public safety”.

Our state fair in Wisconsin is set up exactly the same way. Metal detectors at gates, armed police. But someone could cut through a fence somewhere, like in Gilroy. Cops can’t guarantee my safety. Staying home, and away from all gun free zones.

Update details. Coroner says shooter killed himself, contradicting LEO claims.

Not that it matters. He was in a confrontation with police and is now no longer a threat to the public. Cause of death - lead poisoning.

I think where it matters is he went there to die.

When people think they might live and escape, and when they go expecting to die, they have different kinds of motives and different preventions. If someone expects to live, intervention is possible, when we can catch it before the rampage. If they mean to die, i dont think intervention works very well and only dying works to stop them, and that’s usually only going to be after they’ve done some of the damage they mean to do.

Even if we get on the prevention side of the problem, this is the sort of person that’s going to be hard to stop.

Some may call it a lack of courage but I tend to stay away from public events with crowds these days and I don’t drink in public places. Want to keep my edge and not have dulled senses.

I’d call it common sense, @bulldog! My daughter turns 21 in just a few days. She wants to get her concealed carry license and a gun for her birthday. She’s much more interested in protecting her family than she is in partying and drinking.

Luckily, she knows someone who can do a 1:1 Concealed Carry Class with her as part of her birthday present. But no, I’m not buying her a gun. I’ll help her find one she likes. And she’s not taking one of my guns like she used to take my shoes!
