Fanny pack suggestions?

Anyone have any fanny packs for carry suggestions? I’m thinking of setting up a fanny pick for when I go on jogs and walks. I like my belly band, but I swear a l out and I don’t want to wash it frequently.

I have had one of these, or at least the earlier version, for well over 20 years. I don’t use it a ton, but it works well. The one I have is large, so I can put a full size gun in it.

Safariland also makes one, in leather, and it looks darn nice.

I recently picked up one of these new “waist pack” from Vanquest. My intention isnt to carry a firearm in it, but has loop material on the inside so you could attach a holster by velcro. It is pretty “grey man” IMO, and I intend to wear it slung across the shoulder instead of waist (there are pics at the link with example carry). Their gear is a little pricey, but it is extremely well made.

BIG fan of Maxpedition and have their waist packs in many sizes and colors from small for a quick run to the store/beach to large for I’ll be out all day and have a bunch of crap to lug around. Lifetime guaranteed and built like brick outhouses. Pro class gear.

My favorite out of these recommendations is the Desantis.

I’m also considering the comfort tac. I know it’s a slower draw, but I like how the desantis is does have a Velcro strap on the gun while in the pack. BUT at the same time I like how the comfort tac seems small enough that the gun moving while jogging won’t be an issue and will be a faster draw.

ComfortTac Ultimate Fanny Pack Holster Fits Glock 42, 43, 26, 27, S&W Bodyguard, Shield, Springfield XDs, Taurus, Sig, and Most Subcompact and Compact Pistols - Black Amazon.com

They are currently having a BOGO sale on their Legacy gear if you’re looking for another bag!

LOL… Thanks for the heads up but if I buy one more my wife will be inheriting them after she takes me out. I have a jackets, boots, hats, guns, holsters and bags “problem” according to her…

So I bought the Comfort Tac fanny pack. I have not been happy with it. The gun does not fit snug, and it’s a bulky Fanny pack. I think I’m going to stick with my belly band.

Bump? Playing around with this idea again. Not my favorite but I like to wear shorts with a liner sometimes.

I don’t like the slower draw, but there are times it might work, and allow me to have a gun when I typically wouldn’t.

Problem I have is now when I see a fanny pack, I immediately think gun. But most the people out there probably don’t.

Most people see a gun and don’t think gun. The public, and that includes most bad people, are truly going through life without a clue walking in a fog of their own making.

Thinking of trying one of these

Edit: Not Sure

I have a fanny pack by Vertx that was recommended by someone here awhile ago. They have a couple different options that come with a Velcro inner liner that allows you securely attach your own kydex holsters to. They sell optional Velcro straps that work with a variety of holsters.

Though they call them tactical fanny packs they have some styles and colors that don’t look any more “tactical” then ordinary fanny packs.

I don’t use it very often but it comes in very handy for mountain biking and backpacking.

I’ve gotten into mountain biking and cycling over the past couple of years. My mountain bike is out of commission at the moment (took a tumble on the highway and the front fork won’t hold air anymore :man_facepalming:t2:. Want my fault). I recently got a road bike and ride a local bike trail. So far I’ve decided not to carry while out on the bike. Don’t like off body carry especially with little ones in the house. I wear bibs and bike jerseys.

I don’t always take my firearm with me for short jaunts or rides around my incredibly low crime neighborhood. I do always take some pepper jell with me because I have had issues with dogs while on a bike in the past.

I understand the concerns of off body carry and kids. I actually carry a tiny combo padlock with me when backpacking with the fanny pack. This lets me lock the zippers together when I have to take the pack off. It wont stop a determined thief for more than a few seconds but it keeps kids from poking around where they shouldn’t.

Otherwise I just always treat the fanny pack like it is a belly band and don’t take it off until after I have put the pistol in the safe.

That may actually be a feature for me especially for travel.

My only hangup now is the idea of the draw getting messed up by zippers or the zipper catching my shirt during the draw.

The draw from a fanny pack is the prime disadvantage. There are some packs that have Velcro access to pistol compartment or just an open pocket for the pistol. But both those methods give me concerns on either the access or retention fronts.

I always make sure the zippers are in the exact same spot and that the zipper I want to pull every time has a longer pull tab and that the other zippers have no pull tabs or very short ones. It will never be as perfect as open carry or other carry methods but as always practice is key. And not just practicing only from the perfect shooting position as many people do. Practicing on the bike, on the ground and other likely positions is important. I need to do more of that myself since I have some plans to do more bike riding this Spring.

Also one other none fanny pack option is pocket carry if you aren’t riding with only the traditional biking shorts. I have a pair of flexible cargo shorts that I wear on shorter rides or can wear over bike shorts on longer rides. The front pocket is deep enough and snug enough to securely hold my pocket pistol in its kydex pocket holster. I haven’t been able to get it to fall out under the riding that I do. But I don’t go flying down bumpy trails and taking jumps so you should definitely test this out on your own with an unloaded pistol before deciding if it can work for you.

The Vanquest Dendrite I mentioned above (small or large) is still a good choice, similar to the Vertx it supports a velcro holster.

Have you looked at something like the Phlster Enigma?
