Why would someone even go there if it might be bad?
I pretty much follow the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy with most everyone when it comes to concealed carry. My wife used to ask if I was carrying, but now she knows that I most often carry, when legal. The kids (both adults) assume so, as well. I never discuss it with any other family members. I don’t think/know that it would be an issue, but I’m not taking chances.
Last month I gave a class to my mom and her friend as well as my girlfriend. My daughter is next along with her boyfriend and my daughter in law too. I guess I am Lucky, I am going to go buy a Lotto ticket now!
I’m the only carrier in my family. My wife and son, while they don’t carry, support me enthusiastically 100%. My daughter is totally against it.
How am I trying to change her mind? For starters, a trip to the range with my .22 pistol. Her first experience shooting a gun was fantastic. She mastered it quickly (no surprise), all phases, from loading the magazines, inserting the magazines, engaging/disengaging safeties, and following the rules. I actually detected a smile on her face at the end.
I try to surround myself with people of “like mind”. If I have a family member who does not support concealed carry, the Second Amendment, or our country and the fundamental principles our great nation was founded upon , then they have been persona non grata for so long I have forgotten about them.
I carry and my son carries. My wife has her CCL after my son convinced her to get it but does not carry.
My daughter lives in Chicago and adored their draconian laws and the safety it provides.
My family members don’t mind that I carry plus they understand that it was one of the tools I needed for my job, part of my profession. I have family members that have CCW permits also and we’re military members. My brother and cousin both conceal carry. LE and Military but both live in Puerto Rico and I recommended they join USCCA but they don’t cover PR. As far as family they approve of us conceal carrying and feel safe that we do so.
@MikeBKY, my daughter’s belief system mirrors your daughter’s. My daughter won’t even carry pepper spray. Praying one day that all of our sons and daughters will see the folly in relying on others for their protection. A government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take everything away …
With my family (wife and daughter and son) they know that I carry IWB. My brother knows but doesn’t say much because my sister in law isn’t big on it. When we go to their house I usually leave it locked up in my vehicle due to my young niece and nephew. Now my brother in law he’s all for it due to being a ex marine.
My family on both sides know that I have and utilize my CCW permit. On my wife’s side they all support the 2A but non of them carry. My side of the family everyone also supports the 2A and their’s a potential to have multiple family members legally practicing their CCW permits.
