True, and a part of WWII that most do not know about. By the way, there are still Russian churches on those islands.
True, but those were manufacturing errors, and as such were the responsibility of the manufacturer.
If a firearm fires with the safety on, and it is determined that it was a malfunction due to manufacturing errors, the company would be liable.
My point was more about the vehicle or the firearm operating as intended, and neither by themselves cause harm, the operator or user … the HUMAN who takes action, is the responsible party.
Interesting scenarios being discussed all around. Try this one. Myth or real possibility?
Starting slowly, Biden will precipitously increase taxes on guns and ammunition while restricting the amount of ammunition that can be legally purchased in a month. There will be mandatory gun registration under penalty of law. Failure to register will subject gun owners to felony prosecution, fines starting in the tens of thousands of dollars, and civil forfeiture of property such as real estate and cars. Then, after the midterm elections, with the left in full control of the legislative and executive branches of government, laws will be passed outlawing all guns in private hands (an exception will be made for Local Policy Council members). Gun confiscation will begin. Any records the federal, state, and local governments possess pertaining to gun ownership will be made public with the release of the names and addresses of all gun owners nationwide. Employers will be encouraged to terminate any employees who are gun owners. Mortgage companies, banks, and credit card companies will be encouraged to decline financing to gun owners, “Local Policy Councils,” nee Antifa, will be encouraged to “peacefully protest” at the places of employment and homes of gun owners.
That was a small excerpt. The full article here…
Starting with many senators being affluent enough to hire private security, or move into parts of the country Local Councilmen can’t go - it’s a myth. Employers to terminate gun owners? LOL. Who is going to be left working, the Local Councilmen? LOL LOL
You see, this country is not 1917 Russia, where 70% were scarcely educated peasants ready to follow anyone who tells tall tales. This country is much more like 1924 Germany, with revolutionaries disrupting normal life and business for productive majority. Putting bets on the leftist scum and criminal element in society can lead to some dust and debris, but not the intended outcome. The German scenario is no less tyrannical and scary, I have not seen it gamed in political articles seriously.
I guess that depends on the number of gun owners who would NOT comply, and how much that would affect the economy as a percentage of the working population. Would that old 3% number still apply?
Consider COVID. Is it possible that any state (let’s say Michigan), might mandate that COVID vaccinations are required for anyone to enter their employer’s building, and remain employed? With tax or other penalties for those businesses that do not comply?
If that is possible or even probable, why not for firearms ownership? I know it’s a stretch.
Sadly that doesn’t sound like much of a stretch…
“Some vehicles were poorly designed & killed people”
I owned most of the cars in that book including a couple of corvairs and alot of accidents were purely a result of owners over driving the cars. A note about the corvairs is IF you read the handbook you would find that the recommended tire pressures for the front tires was different than the rears. If you maintained those pressures it significantly improved the handling characteristics of the car at high speeds. That and the fact that a rear engine car handles differently than a front engine car just like a front wheel drive handles differently than a rear wheel drive. Now if we were talking about Pintos exploding from rear end collisions or Fieros burning to the ground you may have a point but people being eviscerated by the winged fenders of a Cadillac just don’t do it for me. The only thing “Unsafe at Any Speed” ever did was make Ralph Nader money.
So just for laughs a poor design. Yes? Did vw bug have tires like this? Other rear engined cars? How about suicide doors? Hoods that opened by the windshield? Air bags that didn’t work. Brakes that failed. Trans that allowed the car to slip into drive.
I’ll give you that David-65, cars have been produced with design flaws. As I remember it from reading it 50 years ago as a Corvair owner it was a load of BS BUT it did cause the auto industry to fast forward car safety features. Didn’t do it for me YMMV. Way off topic, should be discussing design flaws on hand guns like the Colt 1911 dropped fire feature lol.
The most insidious myth I was hit with was the one stated in such a way that the myth is not spoken, it’s entirely implied, but utterly unmistakable and utterly damning. yet it is a false logic. He said,
If someone carries a gun, it “proves” they are “willing” to kill someone.
By that variety of false logic,- buying a burial plot “proves” you are “willing” to die. Or, that having a doctor “proves” you are “willing” to be sick.
Clearly nonsensical when cast in the proper light of undeniable realities of life.
Being prepared for an unwanted event does not “prove” you are “willing” for it to happen!
A co-worker hit me with that one, and felt he had won an undeniable point when he had done no such thing.
edit: the implied myth that is so damning is the implied character flaw of the person who is carrying.
Big Foot is real.
Northern California coast line too. In fact they are historic sites maintained by the State of California Park Service.
