Everyday challenges for new-to-carrying?

I agree about not leaving guns in unlocked vehicles or even in a locked vehicle without being in a safe. I do my due diligence and tgen some for a variety of reasons, one of which is I realize the anti-gun lobby is just looking to make an example of the good guy/gal with a gun. I don’t want to be the guy who ruins things for everyone.

By the way, this actually happened in my state about an hour from me. My uncle used to live in this town. Scary! Sunset Hills police reviewing video from Home Depot after employee is accidentally shot in restroom

Bathrooms can be a dangerous place when you’re not being safe - with or without a gun!

Did they ever find the guy, @TWeinzerl?

I don’t believe they ever caught the guy.

Don’t be paranoid about people knowing you have a gun. 90% of people are too busy to even notice you are there. Anyone new to carrying a weapon the next time you go into a store just people watch and see how many people are busy shopping, on a phone, chasing a kid. Youll be able to count on one hand how many people even make eye contact with you.

One thing I did when I first started carrying was I bought a budget holster, and it was unnecessarily uncomfortable. I think if you’re new to carrying the bills add up, and only the gun is the main focus of your spending, rather than ammo, a good holster, and of course a USCCA membership. A good holster will also sit well in your pants preventing you from pulling at your shirt and touching the gun.

Car safes are too cheap and too much of a great idea to pass up.

I took out the small center consol arm rest out of my car and bolted down a fat .50cal ammo box with locking assembly.

Wont be able to pry it up…

My car safe is on the floor in the backseat, and is concealed… by a big Gold’s Gym bag laying on top of it. None the wiser. I hate the thought of unholstering, stowing, unstowing, and reholstering. Its much safer just to leave it alone in the holster, with its trigger fully guarded.

Never thought about that!!

I wore/wear a belly band for times like this because it can be adjusted easily especially when I need to um…sit down. I remember I was wearing a Tulster Profile IWB holster and had to go in Walmart and this was just after El Paso. I was so nervous about taking off my gun in the stall and making sure everything was just right before exiting. My fiancee’ called to check if I was OK because it took a bit of a while.
