Ensuring equipment safety

Sorry I cannot contribute on the topic of religion. However, what an interesting question about what we think or can do on the subject of our firearm falling into the wrong hands, great “food for thought”.

Hi.

This wasn’t a request concerning input on a religious matter.

It was a request concerning gun safety, following the occurrence of a major event in the lives of people who already believe in Jesus.

Thank you though for helping to clarify the distinction between the two, in a manner i apparently wasn’t able to make clear.

Ok…
I finally got the opportunity to talk to the assistant pastor last night after men’s Bible study.

I described the background, and the realization that arose from it, and he generally agreed with those who say- you’re gone. It won’t be your concern anymore.

He then stated something that i had wanted to do…

Our church has apparently put together what they’re calling a - “rapture pack.”

I’ll be looking into it further this week.

For several years now, my wife and I have been buying books, for something like a prepper/post-apocalyptic type scenario. Not the apocalypse specifically, but a really bad shtf situation.
Loss of power, major earthquake (Nevada is the 3rd most seismically active state), volcanoes (western Nevada is essentially a volcanic wasteland, surrounded by sleeping or purportedly extinct volcanoes).

Technology may not be usable in that scenario, so having books for both entertainment and for educational purposes and survival skills would matter.

In the event of the rapture, and my wife and I are no longer around, having those resources would be helpful for those left behind.

Books explaining how to survive the final 7 years of human history, the necessity of getting right with God, before one dies, and things to avoid at all costs.

There’s a publisher, who has long since vanished into history, who had published great construction trade texts, to train professional craftsmen.

They were known as

Theo Audel (Audel & Co) Publisher.

For those who don’t want to spend $, these books are out of copyright and freely available on www.archive.org

If you view yourself as a prepper, even on the most basic level, having trade books will earn you a place in a new, upstart community, having the knowledge and understanding of how to build, repair, service, etc…

These books date back into the 1800s, and go up through the middle of the 20th century.

Having a basic mechanical aptitude matters.

In my former profession, i literally stumbled upon my first Theo Audel text in late 1993.
I was immediately enamored and found a copy in an inter library loan program and scanned it.
A few years later I found, and purchased a copy.

Seeing the two different editions (one was 1942, and the other 1957), i realized that the older edition contained more, and better information.

Apparently, as Technology modernized, there were certain things that tradesmen were no longer needed for. So the newer books dropped the older stuff.

If you can, find Theo Audel books.
They’re worth it.

I like his answer.

A common joke in the past (yes, we don’t lose our sense of humor once we’re in Christ) was a buddy calling or texting me just to be sure I’m still around and he’s not left behind.

A false prophet once predicted Jesus’ second coming on May 21, 2011.
His followers started to sell their properties in preparation for the event.
I was like, “dood, I mean, dude! Why even bother?”
A lesson in setting their minds on things below instead of things above. :man_facepalming:t4:

After talking to folks here about it, it became easier to deal with.

Mine has just increased in sarcasm.

I vaguely recall a guy named- Camping.
He’d tried in 1994.
I remember the local radio station mgr doing an interview with him. I called the radio station and asked why.
I tried volunteering at the radio station a few years later and when the mgr heard my name, that was the end of the matter.
Apparently, i was too sarcastic.

Yeah… too much more involved to successfully do that.

Correct. Harold Camping. He had quite a following, one close to me, and a congregation I only met couple years ago that was divided by the issue.

Regarding our guns in case of no longer being here (death or whatever)… We are not responsible for actions taken by anyone with what would be no longer or possessions. Even if they were our possessions, we are not liable for the actions of others.
Pertaining to the theological aspect: if any person claims to know “how the end WILL happen”, change the channel, turn off the radio or close the book; they DON’T know. There will be signs, as there have been for 2000+ years. Increasingly! And yes, we are closer to the end than they were but remember, the prophecies that foretold Jesus’ first coming we’re not understood by the pharisees who were far more deeply engrained in the old testament and new every prophecy. They missed it! So why would we think that “popular” teachers in our epoch of time would get it right.
I’ll end with this- Revelation in 5 words: Jesus is coming, be ready!
Don’t worry about your guns, defend yourself and others and if your guns are stolen when you are no longer here, is not your concern. :slightly_smiling_face::+1:t2:
