Dry fire targets

Hello,

I’m looking to buy a dry fire/laser unit. I’d like to get some input as to what might be the best purchase. Thank you.

more details please…

  1. what do you want practice? Holster draw, single target, multiple targets?
  2. do you want to use your own handgun?

As for now I see two best options - these work for me:

  • laser cartridge suitable for for EDC handgun and laser targets (fe. “Laser Ammo”)
  • Mantis TitanX

or if you want to go extreme… :kissing_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Welcome to the community Amy42, and I can’t agree more as Jerzees has given some great input.

@Amy42 introduce yourself here :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2:

I have the ELMS unit from G-SIGHT, and have been very pleased with it.

When you are looking at options, be aware that there are ‘hidden costs’ associated with some of them. And also additional costs for additional features. Some of the systems will require you to also purchase the app you need for your phone or tablet in addition to the laser system itself, and even to purchase specialized targets that the app needs. Some may also require an online membership and online connectivity to even use the thing at all and get any results.

I bought my G-Sight a while back. so I’m not familiar with the specifics of their current offerings. But I was able to buy the laser unit, and find free Android apps that would give me some basic training options that are more than adequate. Other targets and apps are available for additional fees for more advanced drills and training. But they are not necessary to use the system and get a feel for it.

Be aware you will need some other Android or IOS phone or tablet to actually run the apps and watch for the laser hits. And you will need a way to hold this device steady. G-Sight offered a package with a phone/tablet holder that I placed on my own camera tripod. I even used an older obsolete phone without a SIM card, but still with WIFI access dedicated to this setup. But if you do that, just make sure the device has a supported Android version on it. It can’t be TOO old and still work.

On Amazon, I bought this item called the Strikeman, which I have chambered in 9mm.
