Any dry fire system that costs around $100 is worth the money.

However you must know its limitations.
It doesn’t come with the laser firearm replica, so it fires the way your current pistol allows.
So if you’re not using DA/SA action pistol, you won’t be able to shoot the laser twice (and more) without racking the slide.

Very true unless you have a Taurus striker fire. I use the Strikeman cartridge in a G2C that will “fire” the laser over and over without racking the slide.

Before I changed over to training with the G2C I was using the Strikeman in a 1911. Fire, cock hammer, fire, and repeat. That taught me a very bad habit. I went to the range, drew my pistol out of the holster, fired, and immediately reached up to cock the trigger.

I honestly used the target with my phone only a couple of times. I mainly use Strikeman cartidge without target and phone for intuitive point shooting training. In other words I focus on the target and shoot at close range targets around the room. The laser gives immediate feedback where a shot would have landed. I feel this is benefical training for me if ever needed in close counter self defense. I recommend a balance between this training and using the sights skewing the balance based on experience level. More sight training for begineer to intermediate level shooters. I’m counting on @Jerzees to make better comments on this aspect

I personalny found SIRT the best tool for my dry fire simulator software.
Depending on what I’m practicing I use either SIRT or my EDC.

Any pistol will work.
I recommend to use the one you carry.

Strikerman is one of dozens systems doing the same.
Some people like this one, some the other.
It works and that’s the most important.

I know… Mantis made something less expensive and more complex than SIRT.

I cannot say anything about it because I don’t like Mantis… It never worked for me. :zipper_mouth_face:

I have never used either, just throwing out options.

I have not tried mine outdoors, but this is comments from the vendor’s website:

" Sunlight Challenge: Bright sunlight can challenge the system’s performance, as it may make it difficult for the app to detect the laser strikes on the target accurately. To address this issue, it is recommended to use the system in shaded outdoor areas if you wish to shoot outside in daylight. When used outdoors, the system is effective 25 – 100 yards. Placing the target and the smartphone app under shade can also help improve performance."

The app seems to be what makes or breaks the set up, since the app is free I downloaded it, printed off one of their targets and tested with a laser pointer to see if it would register hits etc. Once confirmed it did, I got a cheap generic laser cartridge , since I already had a phone tripod adapter, and tried that with the printout.

Like someone said earlier, if you don’t have a DA/SA it can be annoying, I was seeing what it would show when I tried to continuously fire double action only (full pull of the trigger without cocking the hammer first) at 20 feet (paper being 8.5x11 letter size) to see how tight I could keep the grouping with an 11-lb trigger pull.

As opposed to working on iron sight precision with pulling back the hammer each time.

Edit: The other app, called LaserHIT which seems to be advertised with a lot of the facebook ads in competition to Strikeman or Mantis, was of rather poor quality I uninstalled it right away. Also noticing the physical electronic targets they had were the same kind of units you’d get off amazon for $14.
