Does your spouse actually LIKE that you carry daily?

My wife was in that category for a long time, she has finally come around, so hang in there! :+1:

I live on 100 acres and the amount of people that travel down my driveway to ask if so&so lives there or some want to do handiman work or any number of lame excuses, simple I carry OWB everyday on the property. I carry IWB everyday any where I need to go.
Before some baffoon ask how do I like my RV or what ever they are asked to leave!
I am not as quick or as strong as I use to be and will not tolerate B.S.

My spouse is supportive, especially in these times where everyone is a little twitchy. She is not supportive of the costs though

My wife is all-in with my carrying. She has her CWL and occasionally carries as well. My daughter doesn’t like guns at all, but she accepts that I carry, and she seems comfortable with it. I think she realizes that I don’t do it to impress anybody - especially since it is not visible to anyone. My granddaughter has no issue with it either. All in all, since help is only twenty minutes away if something happens, my family is actually glad to have me around to be their first line of defense.

When I was a LEO, my wife reluctantly accepted that i had to carry off duty. After I retired, she was less understanding. I explained to her that I had a multitude of interactions with people and many of those were either negative or would be perceived as negative by the people I interacted with. I also let he know that while many of those may remember me, I would not likely remember them. She accepted that but didn’t like it. Until one time some girl came up to us and asked me if I remembered her. I didn’t. She started telling me about her getting drunk at a church picnic and then I remembered. She was no longer a teen but I remember having her friends, some who I knew, making sure she would get home safely. I didn’t need to take her into custody and saved her a lot of grief. I even got a call from her mother the next day. Point being, I remembered the incident, but not the person a few years later.
Since then. especially if we are going to be in crowds, my wife will ask or pat my hip to make sure I am carrying.
I also convinced her to get her CDWL. She doesn’t carry but she could legally hold my weapon for me if the need arises.

As Red Green would say, “You may not find me handsome but at least I’m handy”.

YES. And what a wonderful journey it has been. She started out opposed 100% to me even owning a firearm. Now she “makes sure” I’m carrying, encourages me to renew my range membership, and actually shoots with me occasionally. She’s 100% on board.

Wade, it took a few years with my wife as well. The world is a bad place, I think she’ll come around when she sees your commitment to protecting her.

Stephen, my daughter hates guns as well. But she hates them just a little bit less now. I finally convinced her to go to the range with me a few weeks back. She started the day out afraid to even hold my .22 semi-auto. After 45 minutes she could eject the magazine, reload it, rack the slide, and safely deliver rounds down range. It was fun to see her confidence grow, and Clorox couldn’t have wiped the smile from her face.

I’d say tolerates is the best description.

At first my fiance was nervous, but now she has made it a habit of making sure I have my firearm before we leave the house. I always have it but she double checks!!

Oh, she’s actually the one who pushes me to carry. Most of the time (pre-COVID), I didn’t feel the need. So she likes that I carry more regularly, but she just doesn’t want to see what I’m carrying. Which is fine, because I don’t want anyone else to see that I’m carrying, either.

She now carries, too. I just wish I could get her to practice.

Forgot to mention … the .22 is NOT my EDC. It’s my plinker and “introduce to shooting” gun.

Practice. My favorite word. The vast majority of my CC friends have not practiced in years. Not live fire. Not dry fire. No lasers. No nothing. I probably take it too far the other direction, but I shoot my EDC every 2 weeks. Hope your wife eventually sees the value in practice. 50% of a weapon’s effectiveness is how it is used.
