Dawn Or Palmolive "Ultra"?

I’ve acquired an Isonic Model 4821 ultrasonic cleaner for pistols - any advice on which dish detergent gives the better results? The cleaner has a default setting of 140 degrees, a degas button, and a 30-minute timer you can set in 5-minute intervals. The tank holds 2.6 quarts - I’m guessing a teaspoon or a tablespoon per quart is the ticket, with the timer at 15 minutes.

I always use Dawn. :+1:

Simple green is what I use. You want something that does not leave a residue. Lube does not stay on it if you have a residue left on it. Rinse in hot water.

I use good ol’ Dawn in my FA brass tumbler to clean up thousands of sooty cases at a time and it makes them bright shinny gold again. I don’t think I use more than half a teaspoon in a large tumbler which is over 2 gallons. You don’t want anything fancy with additives for this application.

It’s the action of the machine (vibrations or tumble) more that the soap that will clean. It doesn’t take much soap at all and just about any will do fine. I buy Dawn because it’s cheap and a big bottle will last forever.

Rinse well with hot water afterwards and you’re good to go.

I add 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi Shine Original to both my Stainless Media tumbler w/ 1/2 table spoon of Dawn. How long I run the tumbler depends on how cruddy my brass is. I also add Lemi Shine to the rinse water. They come out very shiny with NO water spots.
